Bread Basket Scroll Saw Pattern.

The interior of the basket is seven inches long and three inches deep in the middle. It is large enough for rolls and small bread loaves. You could easily modify the slats to make the basket longer. It would be cool to be able to serve a long french loaf. The basket is pretty stable at this length. I'm not sure how long you could make the slats before the basket strength weakened. Experimenting would be necessary.

Stack cutting the ends and the slats makes the cutting go pretty fast. I cut and assembled the basket in under two hours. I stack cut both ends. I stack cut four of the eight slats at a time.

I used 1/4" and 1/8" Baltic birch plywood for this prototype basket. I think it looks good enough with the plywood to be presentable but hardwood would really look nice. The handle would be a little fragile if you used hardwood. You might need to beef it up a little.

Glue up takes a little extra coordination. I glued all the slats into one end with the end piece laying flat. I also installed the handle at this point. Before the glue starts to set up I carefully applied glue to the other ends of the slats and lined up end piece to complete the glue up.

Remote Dust Collector Switch Review: Affiliate Link.

I own two of these remote switches. One is connected to my dust collector and the other is for running my shop vac. I hook both remotes to my shop apron straps. Dust collection and the shop vac are always just short reach away. I would hate to work in my shop without these remotes.

I will admit that in a weekend hobby workshop, these remotes may be a nice to have luxury but in a production shop, they are a necessity. They just make you way more efficient. The larger your shop the more helpful they are.

Even in a hobby shop, these can be important. If you ever decide to not turn on your dust collector because you don't want to walk over to turn it on then these switches solve that safety problem. Dust collection does you no good if it is not running.

I will tell you now that these are not cheap. They run $99.99 on Amazon. I purchased and burned up three cheap remotes before I realized they could not handle the load. These remotes will handle up to a 110VC/1.5 HP dust collector. I have owned these for a few years with not a single problem. Not even a remote battery replacement yet.

The range of the remote seems excellent. I am in a 600sf shop but I can start the shop vac from the end of my driveway when I clean my truck. The cheap remotes I used before I bought these sometimes needed me to stand on my head to get them to work. I would have to turn and point the remote at the switch to get it to turn on. These remotes work first time every time.

If you are looking to be more efficient or just want the luxury of not having to walk across the shop to start your dust collection then the Rockler Remote Dust Collection Switch is a great investment.
