Diana, Princess of Wales Scroll Saw Pattern.

Princess Diana is still loved by millions of people all over the world. Next month it will be 22 years since she tragically passed away. She is remembered for her charitable work around the world. Her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry both carry on their mother's charity work.

I don't do many portrait style patterns. My design style is minimalist. I try to capture a likeness but not have any more interior cuts than necessary. I like to make patterns that can be cut in one session.

I have included two sizes for this pattern. The small one is 8" X 10". The larger one is 9.5" X 12".

You can use any wood you like to cut portrait style patterns but most people choose Baltic birch plywood. BB ply is stable and strong. That is important when the board starts to get weak from all the interior cuts. This pattern is pretty basic so you can probably get away with hardwood if you are careful.

Portrait style patterns are normally cut with a spiral blade. You can use a flat blade but the larger the portrait the harder it is to use flat blades.

If you plan to frame the portrait it is common to back the portrait up with felt or colored paper. This is most commonly black but you can use and color that you like.

For your information: Almost 3,000 free scroll saw patterns.

I often receive an email asking me to resend a pattern that has been misplaced. After I post a pattern I place it in my free online catalog. All the patterns since May 2007 to present are available for download. There are close to 3,000 free patterns.

When the catalog opens you will see the last 12 patterns on the main page. At the top, you have the option to type in a search term, select a category and set the number of patterns to view per/page.

If you get the urge to make something just pop over to the catalog and you are sure to find something you would like to make.

Have you been looking for an affordable desktop laser engraver/cutter? Unless you are willing to buy one of the Chinese K40 lasers you are going to have to spend $3,000 to $4,000. The Chinese K40 lasers are fun to play with and they work but.... You better be ready to spend lots of time upgrading them and repairing them. I went that route at first and it was just not reliable enough.

There are not too many choices for a laser in the $4,000 price range but the Glowforge Plus is one of the better options.

  • IDEA TO PRODUCT IN MINUTES – Create meaningful gifts for your friends, unique products to sell, or something personalized just for you – at the push of a button.
  • COMPLETELY AUTOMATIC– Autofocus. Automatically recognize materials. Set power, speed, and more automatically. Just add your paper drawing, PDF, or photo and print.
  • FREE SOFTWARE & 30 MINUTE SETUP– Your Glowforge comes with lifetime free access to the Glowforge App. There's nothing to install - you can run it from your browser on Mac, PC, phone, or tablet, or get it from the iOS App Store. It's wireless, it's simple, and there's just one button. The setup guide will have you holding your first print in less than 30 minutes.
  • LASER PRECISION and DOZENS OF MATERIALS – Precise to a thousandth of an inch, and the laser can focus to the width of a human hair. Carve up to 1/2" deep, 11" tall, and 19.5" wide, and print at over 1,300 lines per inch. The Glowforge Plus makes it easy to engrave or print beautiful and useful products with wood, leather, paper, fabric, acrylic, glass, metal, cardboard... even chocolate!
  • SAFE FOR HOME AND SCHOOL – The only CDRH Class 1 laser cutter engraver, the Glowforge Plus meets CE, FDA, and FCC standards, and has been independently safety tested. Safety sensors avoid hazards.
