Sheila Landry designs has a wonderful set of patterns that would be great for Valentines Day or just about any occasion. The set contains patterns for 12 beautiful heart ornaments and pendants. Both sizes are included. These patterns are suited for the beginner or advanced scroller. The pattern book includes complete instructions including embellishing the piece with beads or stones.

She is offering the readers of the Scrollsaw Workshop this free sample. After you complete the sample you are going to want to go buy the rest of the set. Just jump over to Sheila Landry Design . The set is currently on sale for $5.95. I'm not sure how long this price will last so hurry on over.

One Man's Opinion:
If you have a display where you sell your scroll work I highly recommend you make this set. This is the perfect type of project to make for sale. The time to cut will be short. They will display nicely. You can make the project with inexpensive beads and sell them at a low price or buy nice stones for a richer look and price. You can use wood out of your scrap box. I do recommend using exotic or nice domestic wood for these if you plan to sell them. The main reason these will sell well is because Sheila is one of the few designers who has the woman's touch. many of her designs market well to women. Let's face it, women buy most of our work. If you don't market to women you likely won't sell much.

Hummingbird Sculpture Scroll Saw Pattern.

This hummingbird sculpture is a combination of 2d and 3d scroll sawing. The flower is made using simple compound cuts and the hummer is cut from 1/8 inch thick Baltic birch ply.

The piece is delicate so I used a large solid base to give it some heft. I would not plan on trying to ship this piece. It would be very hard to get it there in one piece.

When you drill the hole to insert the bird in the flower notice the angle. He looks better flying higher so make sure you get that angle correct. The stem also sits a little angle in the base. It should angle back a little so it does not look droopy. Is droopy a word? :)

I told you earlier this week that I am on vacation. It's almost over and I actually got most of my to-do list completed. I got the shop mostly cleaned up. I rebuilt my computer room and I got a few patterns designed for you guys. I even took my wife to the movies and out to eat. Tomorrow she wants to go buy some furniture for the bedroom so I have managed to stay out of the dog house. That's what I call a good vacation. All of this came at the expense of not answering many emails so I'm sorry about that but I'll work on them a little at a time.

filterAfan Product Demonstration Video.

The picture above is a product by the name of filterAfan. I received the unit in the mail today and I'm so impressed with the product I wanted to share it with you guys. The product came to me from Bret Chilcott of filterafan.com. Bret is a woodworker who wanted to solve a problem that we all have. He wanted to control the dust in his shop and do it as inexpensively as possible.

His solution was to improve on the box fan filter many that of us have used for years. He designed a shroud for easy filter attachment and replacement. The filterAfan shroud will fit the Lasko model 3733 and the Galaxy model 4733 box fans sold in many stores.

My vacation is half over and I have actually been able to get some things accomplished. I have almost completed my shop cleaning. I only have a little rearranging left to do. I decided to tear down my computer room and start over. The cables had gotten out of hand. I know this sounds crazy but you should have seen the mess. I've been in this computer room for about 9 years and have added and removed several computers, printers, monitors etc. The cable monster was starting to cause problems so I pulled them all out and started over. It's amazing how many cables I have no idea what they went to. I have 6 wall warts that I can't find the device they attached to. The good news is that all the computers are back up and running as of tonight.

This winter cleaning has me grossly behind on answering email. There are about 300 in my inbox. I'll try to start going through them tomorrow so please understand that I might not get to answer them all. I will read them.

I hope you enjoy this Valentine Plate. It's about 8 inches and can be cut from 3 layers of 1/4 inch thick wood.

Alabama National Champions of College Football.

The Alabama Crimson Tide looked invincible today as they dismantled the LSU Tigers 21-0. Alabama's defense shut down the tigers offense. Field goals ruled the day with only one touchdown in the game. This is Alabama's second national title in the last three years. The SEC continues to rule in the BCS championship. There were a lot of pundits who thought Alabama did not deserve a shot at the title but that theory was put to rest with the solid beat down they put on the tigers. Congratulations to all the Alabama team and fans.

This congratulations clock requires a 2 3/4" clock insert. The hole is 2 3/8" diameter. You can purchase the clock insert here. You can obviously change the size of the hole and use any size fit up you like.

Five dollar board into a keepsake basket.. Step by step.

For this project I purchased a 1/2 x 6 x 36 inch craft board from Lowes. It's a nice clear pine and it will make one basket for only five bucks.

I cut the board into 6 inch blanks. The pattern was cut and is ready to be applied to the boards.

I prepped all the blanks with blue painters tape. The tape makes the pattern easy to remove and also helps lubricate the blade. The small amount of lubrication helps prevent burning and also increases the life of the blade. I applied the patterns with spray adhesive over the blue tape.

Over at the drill press I drill all the entry holes. I use a 1/8" drill bit.

I cut the top and bottom parts first. I'm using a Flying Dutchman #3 scroll reverse blade.

Then all four rings were cut out. I like doing similar pieces one after the other because I can get a solid technique and stay consistent.

Now all the parts have been cut and sanded. I like to ease the edges of the top and bottom. You need to be careful with the rings while sanding. They are delicate.

It's time to start gluing and stacking the rings. Apply glue to the first ring and center it on the bottom.

Give the glue a few minutes to dry so the ring does not slide around while applying the next ring.

To achieve a basket weave pattern you need to alternate the rings as shown in the photo above.

Continue to glue and stack the rings. Only apply glue to the contact points of the rings. You don't want the exposed parts to be covered with glue.

The pattern has four rings. You can obviously make the basket taller by cutting more rings.

Apply glue to the top of the last ring and center the top. Take your time to make sure everything is centered and lines up well.

I apply a heavy weight to the basket and allow the glue to dry. I finish the basket with a bath in lemon oil. Once it dries I use spray acrylic to protect the wood and add a little sheen.

Small deeds done are better than great deeds planned.

This word art pattern is my motto for this week. I am on vacation and plan to work around the shop and get things that are long over due completed.

There are certain jobs in the shop that I don't like to do. Emptying the dust collector is one. It's a dirty job and I always end up getting dust in my eyes and throat. I'm going to empty it and look for some disposable bags to replace the bag that came with the machine.

The next chore is to de-dust the shop. Every few months I open the door and use my compressor to blow all the lingering dust out side. Hopefully I can find a day when the wind is not blowing too hard.

My band saw needs new tires and a tune up. I think I'll try the poly tires and see how they work. Hopefully I can find some that fit.

There are several other small jobs that need to get done but we will see how it goes.

Matthew Werner Demonstrates Double Bevel Marquetry.

The video below is a wonderful demonstration by a master craftsman. Matthew Werner is a fine furniture builder from California. He enhances his furniture with scenes from nature using marquetry. Marquetry is a technique that goes back to the 16th century. It is the process of using thin pieces of wood to make designs and pictures from wood. The images are then usually applied to a backer board and displayed as fine art or built into furniture.

There are different techniques to create marquetry. Matthew will demonstrate the double bevel technique. This technique relies on tilting the table of the saw slightly and cutting two pieces of veneer at once. The bottom piece will then slide into top piece and fit with no gaps.

Well 2012 is finally here. 2011 is gone and it was a great year here at the Scrollsaw Workshop. We topped the 10,000 subscriber mark to the newsletter.

There are over 865 free pattern books in the online catalog with 2,215,919 downloads this year. That's a bunch of downloads!

The Community Forum has continued to grow with 2227 members and more than 78,000 posts covering just about any topic you can think of. If you have not signed up for the forum I highly recommend you take a look. There are a many great people there from all over the world. Every skill level is welcomed warmly.

Man Cave Door Topper.

This door topper is over 19 inches long.

This is a two part pattern. Cut both halves leaving extra on the half with the dotted like.

Tape the pattern together at the dotted line.

Use spray adhesive to apply the pattern to the blank. Notice that I applied the pattern to the edge of the board. That gives me less to cut on the scroll saw.

Drill all the interior holes.

I cut my sign from MDF and will paint it.

I am a believer that everyone needs a hobby. We live in such a hectic world and the stress just builds and builds. The economy, work, family events and even holidays can all add to the stress. There is just nothing better than being able to get lost in something you are passionate about. For that period of time the stress just goes away and your body and mind can recover.

Those of you who come to my blog understand exactly what I am talking about. Most of you scroll for just that reason. I don't know if it will make me live longer or keep me healthier but I know one thing, I'm happy when I'm in my shop.

If you have the opportunity to help someone get started in the hobby of scrolling take the time for that person. Show them just how rewarding making something with your hands can be. Pass on the passion you have. If they show real interest mentor them. You just might be giving them the gift of happiness.

Gold Star Mothers.

This plaque and Christmas ornament honor the mothers who have lost a son or daughter while serving our country in the military.

In 1928 a small group of mothers met in Washing DC to establish the organization called the Gold Star Mothers Inc. The organization was named after the gold star that families hung in their window in honor of the deceased veteran.

The sacrifice of these mothers and the sorrow in their heart is something only they can truly know. I received an email from a gold star mother asking me to put together a pattern she could cut for herself and to give to other gold star mothers. She had lost her son in Afghanistan and she mentioned how difficult this time of year is for her and her family. She misses her son. There are so many mothers who are missing their son and daughter right now. If I could make one wish for Christmas this year it would be that there was never another mother who became a Gold Star mother.

God bless all the Gold Star mothers and their families.

This is just a heads up on a good deal I read about today. In my local Woodcraft store ad they had the Delta 20 inch scroll saw on sale for $349. This price may not be available at all Woodcraft stores. The Delta is a re-branded DeWalt scroll saw and at that price is a very attractive deal. If you are looking to purchase a new saw for Christmas this would be worth checking out.

I don't think all Woodcraft stores send out the same local ads so make sure you check before you make the drive.

I received an email from Mike a couple days ago telling me he liked to reduce the military plaques so they could be hung from more places. It sounded like a nice project so I asked him if he could send me pictures.

Today I received the pictures and wanted to share them with you all. I think they turned out great. At this size you could even use them as Christmas ornaments. Both of the plaques in the pictures are the ones celebrating the mothers of a soldier. Any of the plaques could be completed the same way.

This might make the cutting a little more difficult but Mike suggested taking your time and they will come out fine. He reduced the pattern to 55% so he could still cut all the detail. He used nice contrasting 1/8" thick woods.

I mentioned yesterday that a few readers here were using my patterns to make scrap-booking paper cuttings using the paper die-cut machines. I had several emails asking about the machines and what software was used to make or convert the patterns. I recently had an email from someone giving me some info but I lost it. Could one of you scrap-booking gurus email me with the best machine and software available for this craft. If you know of a good scrap-booking forum where the topic of die-cutting is discussed that would be good info also.

Wooden Gift Tags Scroll Saw Patterns.

Add a special hand made touch to your gift wrapping this season. You can stack cut several of these at a time from 1/8" stock. The DecoColor paint pens write on wood very well. They can be purchased in several colors. I personally like the liquid gold color because it looks great on wood.

I am getting more and more laser cutting and engraving folks here on the blog. These would make a great laser project. You could cut the tag and engrave the name for a very nice project.

While I'm at it I want to welcome all the paper cutting and scrap-booking folks. I'm still not too familiar with your stencil cutting machines but I understand you can use my patterns with them also. I guess these tags cut in heavy weight paper would work well also.

Some time ago I designed a set of patterns honoring the veterans of the different branches of our military. One of my readers has made several of these plates and given them to honor their service. He made a great suggestion to me today that I should redesign them to honor the mothers and fathers of our active soldiers. Too good of an idea to pass up so here they are.

These plates are 8 inches in diameter. They are large enough to be hung on the wall or displayed in a plate easel. There are 10 patterns included. Two for each branch of service.

The last week we have seen many of the troops returning home from Iraq. The pictures of the family greeting the soldiers are heart warming. The relief and pride in the family members eyes is impossible to miss.

Sometime in the near future I will add patterns for the wife and other family members to complete the collection.

It's been a long week on the road and I'm glad to be home. I had to be out of town last week for business. I spent four days in a hotel room with terrible Internet connection. For a geek like me that's like a duck out of water.

I have talked about Toymaker Press before but I'm going to again. I love this site. I admit that I am a great big kid at heart. I like toys. I especially like wooden toys. John and Cynthia over at Toymaker Press are two of the most creative toy designers I have ever come across. When you visit their web page you are swept back to a time when toys were simple, imaginations were required and no batteries were needed.

They are constantly coming up with new ideas. The video below shows Cynthia demonstrating their free download called Astronaut Acrobats. She also shows how to package and label the product to sell at craft shows. Watch the video then jump over to their web site and download the free pattern. Five Simple Christmas Ornament Scroll Saw Patterns.

Sometimes simple is better. These five scroll saw ornaments are simple to cut and lend themselves to stack cutting. If you cut all five and package them in a small gift box they will make a nice quick and easy gift.

A nice touch is to use one of the DecoColor Liquid Gold paint markers to sign the back of the ornaments. I buy the Extra Fine marker. It adds an eloquent touch to a simple project. I buy mine at Michael's Craft store but they are available online also. Here is one online source. Uchida.com. They come in gold and silver and work great on wood. I usually just write "Christmas 2011" with my initials.

Another Christmas ornament to cut.

As we move into the holiday season many of you will be in the shop building projects. We all get busy this time of year which makes it even more important to think about shop safety. Take a few moments to look around the shop for hazards.

Check for obstacles laying around the shop floor. Watch for potential fire points. Dispose of soiled rags properly. Make sure the fire extinguisher is in working condition. Take time to make sure all you cutting blades are sharp. A dull blade is a dangerous blade. Check electrical cords are still in good condition and replace or repair as necessary.

The best safety tip is to think. Think about what you are about to do. Are you using the safest method? Do you even know the proper use of that tool? If not then read the manual.

I want all of you to enjoy making your holiday projects. A few minutes thinking about safety might just prevent an accident. Your holidays will be much better if you still have all your fingers to open presents. Be smart and be safe.

Mini Nativity revisited.

The other day when I posted the mini Nativity set I mentioned that I did not like the design of the hut. After thinking about it for a day I received an email From Jutta. Jutta is a good friend from Australia. She keeps me straight when I royally screw something up. :) Her comment was basically "why are you making it so complicated?", "Why don't you just make a scroll saw box?". That was the perfect idea.

Sorry if you have already built the previous version but making the new hut won't require re-cutting the figures. I think this is a much nicer project now. I hope you agree.

Pattern transfer method by Chad Bridges.

The video below is by Chad Bridges. Chad sent me this video so I could see the method that he uses to transfer patterns onto wood. Apparently this is a common method of transfer in the pyrography world. I have never used this technique but it looked interesting so I thought I would share it with all of you. It does have a requirements that many of you may not have. The technique only works on patterns printed from a laser printer. Inkjet printers will not work. it should also work on patterns that you have copied on a copier.

Another issue is the use of a chemical. I know many of you would like to reduce the number of chemicals in your workshop. The name of this particular chemical is Xylene. Like most chemicals this one can be used safely as long as you follow the directions on the can. Just make sure you read those directions before you get started.

I don't personally think this would be my go to method for pattern transfer but it is interesting and I think it has its place.

In this video chad also shows his technique for stack cutting which many of you might find interesting. The video is pretty long so get comfortable and watch what Chad has to offer.

Three inch minature Nativity set.

This miniature Nativity set can be cut in just a couple hours. It's small enough to sit on your desk at work or just about any place with a few inches of space. I cut this Nativity from 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood. It could just as well be cut from different species of hard wood. I found it best to use a #2/0 blade to help keep the details sharp.

I have a confession to make. I idea to store all the pieces in the hut was an after thought. That's why not all the pieces fit. I'm going to change that by extending the walls and roof all the way to the front of the porch in the next one I build. I will work on the design changes tomorrow if I have time. If you want the update go ahead and cut the characters and I'll have the revised hut soon. If you don't want to wait you can easily change the depth of the walls and roof pieces.

I also wanted to pass on a note that I am way behind on email again. I do try to read all the email but unfortunately can't always answer them all. Please keep them coming and I'll do my best to keep up.

The video below is a video response I received on YouTube. I lifted the picture above from a frame of the video below. The video shows how these Columbian scroll saw artists make a collapsible basket into a beautiful frame. I have never seen this type of basket used as a frame but I like it a lot.

Do yourself a favor and watch the video. The gentleman cuts the spiral freehand without a pattern. He keeps the spiral extremely concentric. It's obvious he has cut many of these frames. His technique is fast and accurate. It's a pleasure to watch and very creative.

Free Resizing of the Scrollsaw Workshop Patterns from RapidResizer Online.

I often receive questions about how to re-size my patterns. One option I have talked about before is a program called RapidResizer by Patrick Roberts. Well I have great news for the readers of the Scrollsaw Workshop. Patrick has created a new online version of his outstanding program. Even better news is that he is allowing readers of the Scrollsaw Workshop to use the service free for re-sizing the patterns from my collection.

To do this you will currently need the interface program I have written that can be downloaded from the download button below. The program does not require installation. Just extract the file and place it on your desktop or other folder. Complete instruction are in the video below.

Important notes:
This interface program will only work for patterns you have downloaded from my blog or email newsletter. If you wish to re-size other patterns simply go to the RapidResizer online site and upload the pattern from there.

You cannot currently use the online interface to select a page number from my pattern books to re-size. You need this interface program to do that. Patrick is working on that option for the online interface but it is not available yet.

You really need to watch the video tutorial below to get a good understanding of how this interface program works. Please watch it before emailing questions.

Late Correction to this post. In the video I state that this interface program will not be needed after Patrick adds page selection to his site. That is incorrect. If you wish to re-size my patterns for free you will always need to use this interface program. Patrick has already added the page selection feature and it will be useful for your other patterns. Sorry for the error.

It was a fun series to watch this year. Game six was a classic of errors and excitement. Game seven was a typical game seven. The home team won as would be expected. I had a hard time not pulling for the Rangers. After snatching defeat from victory in game six I knew it would be a tough game seven for them. It's just hard to come back from a game with so much drama and win the next night.

I put together a quick pattern for you Cardinals fan. Hope you like it. Congrats.

11 Inspirational Key Fobs Scroll Saw Patterns.

Key fobs are always popular as hand made gifts. They are relatively quick and easy to make on your scroll saw and the take very little wood. Because they use so little wood you can use exotic expensive woods for that added touch. In the key fobs pictured I used 1/2" thick bloodwood and some nice figured maple. These were just scraps I had left over form a box project.

I buy my beaded chain and split rings from Michael's craft store. The trick is to look in the leather crafting section of the store. My experience is that the staff will not know where the chain and rings are so ask for the leather supplies. Michael's sells the Tandy brand which also has a website you can order from. My wife, daughter, her boyfriend and I made a trip to the Belterra Casino and Resort the last two days. My daughters birthday is coming up and it was something she has wanted to do at least once. I have to admit that I'm way too much of a tightwad to be a gambler. The weather was beautiful and we did have a nice trip even though we lost a few bucks.

After we checked out we decided to travel about 40 minutes down the road to Madison IN. Madison's downtown area sits along the Ohio river and is designated as an historic landmark. It's a beautiful little town with several small shops. Like everywhere these days a few of the building were empty. The last time I was in Madison there was a small store selling scroll saw items. I could not find it this time. I guess they moved out. That was disappointing because I did not get to go in the shop last time because they were closed.

I'll be on vacation the rest of the week and I plan to get the shop cleaned up and ready for cold weather. I think I'm safe to cover up and seal the air conditioner now.

Stack cut the exterior of the plate to get a perfect fit. Separate the frame from the back and cut the interior of the frame. Glue the bird and frame to the back to finish the plate.

Changing Email Address for the Email Newsletter.
Many of you receive the Scrollsaw Workshop via the email newsletter. If you need to change your email address all you have to do is visit the blog and sign up again with your new address. The old email will be deleted automatically after a few failed attempts at delivery. Remember that the email is just a copy of the daily content posted on the blog. If you delete the email you can still get the content on the blog. I can't resend the newsletter.

Patterns won't download or say they are corrupted.
If you have problems downloading a pattern from the email newsletter or the blog here is a tip. My patterns are all in .pdf format. They require Adobe acrobat reader to open. Sometimes Acrobat gets a little flaky. When you try to download a pattern it will say the file is corrupted. When this happens "Right Click" the download button and select "Save Link As". Save the file to your desktop or any other folder on your computer. Try to open the file you just saved. If it opens then the problem is with your Acrobat Reader hook between your browser or email client. you may need to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat Reader to make the files open correctly.

Santa Wall Hanging Scroll Saw Pattern.

This wall hanging is nearly 8 inches across. I'm not usually one to paint projects but this one might be nice painted red. I would cut it from 1/4 inch Baltic Birch Ply then paint it with red spray paint as an option.

Custom name ornaments update.

Wedding reception box for our nephew Brandon and his new wife Sarah.

When there is a wedding in our family my wife always asks me to make a box for the reception. The box is designed to hold cards from the guests for the bride and groom. After the wedding the box is big enough to hold memorabilia from the wedding. I try to come up with a unique design for each one.

For Brandon and his wife Sarah I built a box out of birdseye maple and blood wood. The bottom and sides are held in place with pinned through tenons shown in the picture below. I always decorate the box with scrolled embellishments, in this case their names and the date of the wedding. This box is 16 inches long 8 inches deep and 9.5 inches tall. The top has a slot to accept the cards from the guests.

The wedding was last month but because of the location of the wedding the reception was delayed until today. It's 1:30 am as I write this and I'm hoping the finish cures in time for for the reception. It's dry but still has the odor of the spray acrylic. It usually takes about 24 hours to cure completely so I'm pushing this one.

If you look closely at the picture above you can see the chatoyancy of the grain in this birdseye maple. In person it looks like a gem stone and has a very 3D appearance. Birdseye maple is one of my favorite woods to look at but it can be difficult handle. It's very easy to get tear out when running it through a planner. For a good finish you absolutely have to run through several grits of sandpaper. I sanded this one to 320 grit and could have gone further but i did not have time.

I cut the tenons and holes for the pins with the scroll saw. The scroll saw is not the most accurate to for this job but I did this for a reason. Using the scroll saw leaves an imperfect tenon which looks more rustic. It has a very hand made look which I like without being sloppy. The pins are more decorative than functional. They do help hold things tight but most the the holding power is the glue.

The box is finished with lemon oil and several coats of spray acrylic.

I received an email from Matt Jackering tonight. He is affiliated with Woodworkingparts.com. I have not used this site before so I jumped over to take a look. They feature mostly craft related woodworking supplies and tools. Everything from toy wheels to framing supplies.

I get quite a few of these type of emails so I thought I would show you how I check these sites out before I use or recommend them.

I decided to check out the prices on some of the more often used items in my shop. I started with the 1 7/16" mini clock inserts. Prices ranged from $5.80 up to $10.75 with most under $6. Those are very competitive prices for glass lens inserts. Their prices on toy wheels are also very good. I always keep a supply of toy parts in the shop. As I looked through their catalog I was impressed with most of their prices.

I wanted to check out their shipping costs so I added 10 clock inserts and some sandpaper to the shopping cart. They had a button that allowed me to estimate shipping cost. To ship to my home in Kentucky from Wisconsin was going to be $6.53. Can't complain about that. They also offered 9 different shipping options ranging from cheap to "you got to want it real bad to pay that much" prices. I like having options even if some of them are not likely to ever be used. They also offer international shipping.

I also checked their Contact Us page to make sure they have a telephone number for contact. I hate sites that only allow email contact. Their number and mail address is all there.

Their return policy is pretty standard and is completely shared under their Store Policy page. They also have a privacy policy page that is sparse but acceptable to me personally. I am not one to be overly concerned with these things but I know some are.

At that point I wanted to see more about them as a business. I jumped over to Alexa.com and checked their traffic rank. They are ranked 641,223 in the US with 16 sites linking in. That's pretty respectable for a small online store.

I did a search of the BBB for WiseAcres Art LLC which is listed on their Contact Us page. They showed no reviews either positive or negative. That's usually a good sign from my observations. They have not received BBB accreditation but that's not unusual for a small business either. After a Google search for customer reviews of the site I found nothing negative. I also noticed they have items for sale at Amazon. I checked their feedback ratings there and they have a 98% positive rating with an average 4.9 out of 5 stars over the last 12 months.

After doing my research of Woodworkinhparts.com I would not personally have any hesitation ordering from them. This is not a recommendation because I have not yet placed an order and experienced their customer care. It just shows how I evaluate an online store.

Nativity Scene Scroll Saw Pattern.

This hanging Nativity scene is 19 inches long and 8.5 inches high. The three scenes are two layered ornaments glued together then glued to the backer board. After drawing this illustration I think it needs to be framed out with a boarder on the backer board. When I actually cut this patterns I will make a mitered frame.

I have been a computer enthusiast from the beginning of the personal computer era. The PC has been my source of creativity for many years. When I'm writing a program or designing a pattern I am in my zone of happiness. There have been a few people in the industry who have been my heroes like others have sports heroes. Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs to name a few.

Steve Jobs was one of the founders of Apple. He is credited with taking the company to success that is amazing by any standards. His creative vision helped the company make products that are used by millions. Apple products have an almost cult following that may be hard to understand but Jobs was a master of marketing.

Steve Jobs passed Wednesday October 5th, 2011.

Christmas Poem Ornament. and a Totobobo update.

The ornament comes in two sizes. The smaller one should be a bit of a challenge. Lots' of small interior cuts. Get out your #1 blades for this one. A couple of the entry holes might require a micro drill.

Totobobo dust mask update. Many of you ordered the dust mask I reviewed last week. Thank you for taking the dust serious and wanting to do something to protect yourself. So many of you ordered the masks that they are temporarily in short supply. Paula tells me she will be getting a shipment in very soon and she will get the rest of the orders shipped out asap. The 96% filter are in even shorter supply and will take longer to get. They do have the 94% filters coming and they can ship sooner. Actually for woodworking it is my understanding that the 94% filters are sufficient. They still filter down to 0.3 microns with excellent efficiency. Guys and gals I have heard all the excuses for not wearing a dust mask. I have used many of them myself. The fact is you need to wear one. Scrolling is a fun hobby but it's not worth risking your health. I am reviewing these masks because I want you to know there are masks out there that are not uncomfortable. Many of you have purchased cheap masks and just could not stand to keep them on for any period of time. Additional note.
I heard from a few people that were more knowledgeable than me about safety and dust. They pointed out the fact that the Dust Bee Gone and the Totobobo filter dust at a very different level. The Dust Bee Gone filters to 3 microns. The Totobobo filters to 0.3 microns. The extremely small dust particles pose some of the greatest risks. You should take this into consideration when making a dust mask purchase. Another long time scroller said something very wise to me. She said "It does not matter how good a mask is if it's hanging on the wall". If the mask is not comfortable it will end up hanging on the wall and not around your neck. She uses the Dust Bee Gone because she feels comfortable with it on. It's ultimately up to you which one is best for your needs.
