Dave's Marble Machine

I found this video on YouTube. I like it so much that I wanted to share it with you guys. I think I'll have to invest some time working on some projects like this.

Simple Segmented Pattern

Here is a free segmented scroll saw pattern. The box is 6" x 4". The segmented horse is very simple to cut. I stacked two pieces of contrasting wood and cut the pattern. I then used the dark body with the lighter main and tail. Stack cutting ensures that the pieces will fit perfectly. This also gives you two complete horses. You can save one for another project.

I glued up two 1 inch pieces of walnut for the box body. This is the thickness capacity of my Dewalt saw. I used a #7 blade to cut out the body. When you are cutting a piece this thick use the largest blade you have and take your time. You will need to spend some time sanding this box to get everything flush. A bench top belt sander will help speed things up.

I hope you enjoy this project. I also wanted to welcome all the new subscribers. The small write up in this quarters Scroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts magazine seems to be bringing me quite a few new subscribers. Thank you SSWC.
