Scroll Saw Village University

Travis over at Scroll Saw Village is producing a video workshop about GIMP. Gimp is a free photo editing software package. The software has many uses but Travis will take you through his technique to produce scroll saw portrait patterns. The workshop is in the forum under the Village University room. So far he has 5 videos produced and I think he has more to come.

GIMP like all photo editing software can be intimidating. Just keep in mind that you don't have to learn everything it does just to make portrait patterns.

Go check out the workshop and see if it's something you would like to try your hand at.

Thanks Travis, keep up the good work at the Village.

Del's Wooden Shop Made Scroll Saw Video

Check out this fantastic but impractical wooden scroll saw. The gentleman in this video is Del. He has been making wooden machines for years. Most of his projects are do nothing machines that are just works of art. This project is a work of art that actually does something.

This machine uses some hand made cage gears and a flywheel. It's operated by pedal power. You could do some scrolling and get your workout all at the same time.

If you are reading this post in the email newsletter you may not be able to view the video. Please visit my blog and you can watch it there.
