Can you get started in the hobby with an entry level scroll saw? Let's take a look.

Scroll sawing is a creative and fun hobby. Like all hobbies you have to start some place.

I receive many email every week asking about entry level saws. You will see this topic debated in all the online forums. You usually see "Don't buy that crap saw save up and get a nice one.". Let's face it almost all of us started with a low end saw and moved up as we discovered we wanted more.

It's true that the entry level saws have deficiencies but can you live with the problems? I decided that I would go out and purchase a budget saw and just see what my experience would be.

In this two part video series I will show my experience with the Craftsman 16" scroll saw. This saw is priced at $109 currently.

A couple of notes about the video. If you are reading this in the email newsletter you may not be able to see the videos. Please visit my blog and watch them there. I also have a bad habit of calling the upper and lower blade clamps "chucks". That's not accurate so please excuse my inability to think and chew bubble gum at the same time.

I plan to give this saw away in some type of contest here on the blog. No details right now but I'll be posting the rules sometime in the next few days. It will likely be limited to the continental United States because of shipping cost. I know it's not fair but I ain't made of money regardless of what my daughter thinks.
