Easy Portrait Pattern

I receive a lot email asking about portrait patterns. Many new scrollers are drawn to the hobby when they see a portrait pattern at a craft show or on the web. I wanted to make an easy to cut portrait pattern that I could send new scrollers to for them to practice on. This portrait of Elvis will be easy to cut and interesting enough that it will be fun.

The pattern was made from a graphic font that was released for personal use only. I don't have the name of the original designer of the font so I can't give credit. Because it is for personal use only you should not try to sell any final cuttings from this pattern.

Love You Scroll Saw Box

Guys, cut this box and keep it handy for the next time you end up in the dog house. The box is 6.5'' x 4''. It will make a nice little keepsake box or a small jewelry box.

Notice that I backed up the fretwork so you can't see into the box. I used a 1/8'' thick piece of wood. Look at the picture below to see how I attached it to make sure the box would close all the way. This is optional but I think it looks better.

Make sure you visit the blog and register for the giveaway. I'll be giving away a one year subscription to Scroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts Magazine. Look for the small picture of the scroll saw and click it to enter. You can enter once a day. I am still having people entering more than once a day. Your entries are deleted when you do that so please just once a day. Enter and Win.
