3D Key Fobs using my Scroll Saw Keychian Pattern Maker.

I received the picture above of a key chain fob from one of my readers in France. Unfortunately I was unable to get his name from the email but I wanted to share what he did. He used my Scroll Saw Keychain Pattern Maker software to make a 3d pattern. My software is typically used to make 2d patterns but he took it one step further.

To make this 3d pattern simply print out both 2d patterns and apply them to a wood blank. On one of the two pattens you need to cut off the chain hole. It is also easier to leave the end pieces of the shorter pattern so you can line them up better. If you set the size setting to about 120 you can use a 1" x 1" wood blank. When you print the two pattern this will make more sense. I think I will do a video tomorrow showing the technique. I might be hard to understand from this post. Let me know if that would help

If you do not have the Scroll Saw Keychain Pattern Maker you can download it by clicking the picture above. There is also a video demonstration of the program on the blog. The program is donationware so you may download and use it for free. If you would like to make a donation I ask for $5. There is a donation link in the software.

Thanks to the reader who sent the picture. Please send me your name so I can credit you with the idea.
