Segmentation Bird Scroll Saw Pattern.

I am often asked the difference between Intarsia and Segmentation.  In general a segmented pattern is cut from one board. The pieces are then usually lightly shaped by sanding the edges and reassembled to make a picture.

Intarsia is usually made from different species of woods. The pieces are cut to fit together like a puzzle. The pieces are often shaped to give an almost 3d effect. Different species with contrasting colors and grains give the assembled picture greater depth than most segmented pictures.

This pattern is segmentation. Because of the minimal shaping it is much faster to make than most Intarsia pictures.

You can frame this pattern like I did or use it to decorate a box lid.

The pattern book has the instructions you need to complete the project.
