Mike (The Flying Dutchman) Moorlach

Many of you know Mike. For those who don't he is the man behind Mike's Workshop. Mike has sold the Flying Dutchman scroll saw blades to many thousands of scrollers in the U.S. and Canada. For years he has been my go to source for blades and great service. He has also been the source I recommend to my readers when they want a high quality scroll saw blade. I also considered Mike a friend. Of course most of Mike's customers considered him their friend. That's how Mike ran his business.

Mike sold his business yesterday. Mike has decided to retire early and live the good life. Mike is 84 years young.

I have known for quite some time that he was trying to sell the business but I honestly hoped he would keep going forever. It's mixed emotions. I am thrilled he will be able to enjoy his retirement but I will very much miss dealing with Mike.

Mike sold his business to The Wooden Teddy Bear. I know they are working right now to get the transition over as soon as possible. When I get more details I will pass them along.

Congratulations Mike. You are a true gentleman. I am proud to have worked with you over the years. I wish you the very best of luck in your retirement.

The first two e-Magazine issues were well received and the plan is to have six issues per year. In the March issue there are projects for Easter coming up in April, and for Mother’s Day, which is celebrated on May 10. I have also included a decorative plate for US Memorial Day – May 25. There are 26 projects – all new patterns, not available on my website. Included are some easy freestanding Easter bunnies, and stand-up projects that spell Mom, Mum, and Dad for the beginner. Those who like a bit of a challenge may enjoy making the large John 3:16 cross, and the oval Rose inlay box.
To see the Table of contents for more detail on the projects included, click on either the description or the image below. Vectors are available on request.

There are problems with the Community forum. For those of you who are members there please know that I am working on the issue. Most the the attachments for the posts such as pictures were lost. My hosting service allows unlimited storage but only if it does not cause the server issues. Apparently it was causing issues and they were only giving me a few hours to fix it or be shut down. I was trying to delete only the older attachments but they all got deleted. I'm trying to recover the lost images but no luck so far.

The size of the storage space for attachments adds up pretty quickly. I have to forum software set to delete post attachments after so many days but it does not seem to be working. I want to be able to continue to host the attachments on my server but if I can't get it worked out I may have to only accept offsite attachment hosting. Sorry for the trouble.
