April is Autism Awareness Month.

Please help support Autism Awareness. Promote inclusion and acceptance in your schools and community.

The CDC estimates that 1 in 68 children in the U.S. are on the autism spectrum. That is a ten fold increase in the last 40 years. Some of this increase is attributed to better diagnosis but that does not completely explain the rapid increase.

Autism is not caused by one single factor. Scientist believe it to be a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Early diagnosis and intervention tends to improve a child's brain function, social skills and overall social behavior. That's where awareness comes in. The more awareness of the condition we have in our communities the less likely a child will go undiagnosed. Please help spread the word when you have the opportunity.
