Last week I saw a project in one of the popular woodworking magazines. The author had built a nice desk lamp using one of the LED puck lights. I wanted to give it a try myself but I didn't want one as large as the original so I designed my own. I liked the whole wireless idea.
I stopped by Lowes and picked up a 3 pack of the puck lights for around $12. The brand is Utilitech. They use 3 AAA batteries. I have not had a chance to see how long the batteries will last yet but they claim up to 100 hours. If the life is too short I'll just use rechargeable batteries. The LED pucks used in this pattern need to be 2.75" in diameter unless you modify the shade of the lamp.
It's also going to be handy during a power outage because it's easy to move around.
