U.S. State Quarter Display Scroll Saw Pattern.

A few days ago I ordered a complete set of State Quarters from Amazon.com for $35. I wanted to build a display map for the quarters using the 6 piece coin forstner bit set to drill the holes. A quarter is .955 inches in diameter so you need this special bit.

This pattern is large. The map is on 11" X 17" paper. If you don't have a printer that will print that size you will need to either use the poster printer feature of Acrobat reader to print the pattern on four pages or take the file to a print shop. Only page 3 of the pattern book is 11" X 17". Just let the person at the print shop know that it is a mixed page document and the third page is 11" X 17".

The backer board is not drawn in the pattern because it is so large. It is 13" X 19". Just glue up a panel that size. I used purple heart for the backer board and Cherry for the map.

I did not put the holes for the coins in side the position of the individual states. That requires a much more complicated pattern and it has to be even larger. I just wanted to keep it simple. One option is to put the coins in the order of their becoming a state.

My Wife said I should have put Hawaii and Alaska in the bottom insert. Honestly I just didn't think of that while I was making the pattern. It would not be too difficult to move them there and readjust the holes in the main map if you want.

This is what the print dialog looks like when you select "poster Mode. Just scroll to page 3. Click "Pages to Print-Current Page", Click "Poster" and the pattern will print on to 4 pages. Just trim them and tape the edges together for a complete pattern.
