If you are just getting started and don't yet have a drill press this tip may be helpful. If you need to drill an interior hole in fine fretwork it is important that the hole be 90 degrees to the surface. If it's not you can drill into the next interior area and have blowout. When you have dozens of holes to drill it's likely you will get some not square. This quick video shows a solution.
