Modern style Westminster Chime Pendulum Clock Scroll Saw Pattern.

http://www.stevedgood.com/estore/estore.html
I was playing around with a Westminster chime clock movement I got from Bear Woods tonight. I am planning a more traditional clock with this movement but while testing it I kind of liked this quick mock up so I just made it a pattern. It's kind of a modern take on a traditional Westminster chime clock.

I will point out one thing that makes this pattern somewhat difficult. The letters/numbers are pretty small. If you are a new scroller they might be a challenge. I used a #3 blade and could have even went smaller. I drilled the entry holes with a micro drill bit. I could have used my normal 1/16" drill bit but it is right on the edge of being too large.

The way this chime movement is used in this clock it is not very loud. Normally they are enclosed and get a volume boost from the enclosure. That may be good or bad depending on how loud you want it to be.

To make this modern style clock look right the pendulum needs to be painted black. The brass color is just not right for this style. I did not want to paint it because I'm going to reuse the movement in another clock when I get it designed.

I list in the pattern the proper hands to buy.

Here is the link to the clock movement I used in this pattern. You could buy one without the chime and save a lot of money. This clock probably would be better suited without the chime anyway. I purchased the 3/8" movement but used 1/4" thick wood. I find that they fit better if you oversize the movement a little.

To see and hear the clock watch the short video below.

The following video is only 1:30 long. It is just a quick sample of the Westminster Chime clock movement. It show the pendulum movement and the sound.

Amazon Echo - Black

I have owned my Amazon Echo for around a year now. The longer I own it the more I use it. I have it connected to a few light switches with more planned. I will also be adding a smart thermostat soon. The Echo is in my office and I have one Echo dot in the bedroom. I'll be adding more Dot's around the house as money allows.

I am slowly building the smart home I always wanted and the Amazon Echo is the hub for that system. I really love this tech.

  • Plays all your music from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and more using just your voice
  • Introducing Alexa calling and messaging, a new way to be together with family and friends. Just ask Alexa to call or message anyone with an Echo, Echo Dot, or the Alexa App.
  • Fills the room with immersive, 360º omni-directional audio
  • Hears you from across the room with far-field voice recognition, even while music is playing
  • Answers questions, reads the news, reports traffic and weather, reads audiobooks from Audible, gives info on local businesses, provides sports scores and schedules, and more using the Alexa Voice Service
