Armed Forces Clock Scroll Saw Patterns.

http://www.stevedgood.com/estore/estore.html
These clocks are 10" X 6". They require a standard clock movement. Our sponsor, Bear Woods stocks these movements for several thicknesses of woods. This clock requires the one for a 1/4" thick dial. Here is the ling to the movement I used.  When you choose your hands pick from the 2 5/8" or 2 3/4" length.

Information: Hearing protection. Includes affiliate link.

For many years I worked in my shop without hearing protection. That was a mistake. I suffered some hearing loss and there is no going back once the damage is done. Earmuffs are not that expensive. I keep several pair in my shop now. One is always within reach. I use them without fail now. It's just the smart thing to do.

Here is what the researchers at Creighton University say.

Rule of thumb for determining if hearing protection is required. If you have trouble hearing or understand a normal tone of voice at a distance of three feet then the noise levels probably exceed the safe level and protection is required.

85 Decibels (dB) - the "Action Level" where hearing protection is required.
90 dB - the OSHA, 8 hour average exposure limit.
100 dB - exposures longer than 15 minutes are not recommended.
110 dB - regular exposure of more than 1 minute risks permanent hearing loss.

I think it is obvious that you need some type of hearing protection in your shop. I guarantee that your hearing aids will cost more than a pair of earmuffs. Here is a link to hearing protection options on Amazon. This is an affiliate link. If you don't want to use Amazon then go to your local hardware store and buy what you need.

Here are the reading from my shop:
A scroll saw usually does not exceed safe levels but if you ad a shop vac for dust control you probably need hearing protection. Table saw, planers and most shop tools will exceed safe levels even without duct collection.

Scroll saw without dust collection.
 Shop vac.
Table saw not cutting wood, just running. It
jumps to 101.1dB when cutting. No dust collection running.
