Football Scroll Saw Pattern.

http://www.stevedgood.com/estore/estore.html
Football is well underway now and my Kentucky team is 3 and 0. That's the good news. The bad news is that Florida comes to town today with a 30 year win streak against the Wildcats. It's been more than half of my life since I have seen a win over the Gators. Now, it's no shame to lose to Florida but 30 years...... That is just embarrassing. Sorry Gator fans but I have to have faith that we have a chance this year.

Heritage Wood Specialties: Scroll Saw Ready Boards.

I often receive email from readers wanting to know where they can buy boards for their scroll saw projects. It can be difficult to find thin stock locally for many people. The best option is to buy all the equipment to mill your own boards. It may be the best option but it sure is not the cheapest upfront option.

You can spend thousands to buy the band saw. planer, jointer, sander and table saw. The good news is that it is now easier than ever to buy scroll saw ready boards. Can you get on the internet?(your reading this so the answer is yes). Then you can buy thin boards.

There are many places online to order scroll saw ready boards but my favorite happens to be one of my sponsors. Heritage Wood Specialties. The reason Heritage is one of my sponsors is because they were recommended by so many of my readers. I don't want to recommend someone and then get a bunch of angry email because of problems. I get no negative email about Heritage Wood Specialties .

To give you an example I just put 5- 1/4" thick X 12" X 20" maple boards in my shopping cart. That's enough wood to make several scroll saw projects. The shipping to my house in Kentucky came to $13.95 for a grand total of $75.10. Okay, that's a few bucks but it's a heck of a lot cheaper than all the tools it would take to mill that wood yourself.

I actually have all those tools and I rarely mill my own boards anymore. It's just too much of a time buster.

Here is more good news. Those 1/4" X 12" X 20" boards are already made up into panels for you. They are nice looking panels at that. These guys do a great job matching the boards to make their panels. I absolutely love these panels. If I want to make a larger project I have a board wide enough to make it happen. Did I mention that I love these panels. On their site they call them Scroll Saw Blanks.

I know that wood is not cheap but you you have to buy it to do woodworking. It's great that scroll saw projects rarely take a lot of wood so that helps. Don't get stuck in the 3/4" thick pine big box store board rut. Beautiful hard woods can take a simple project to the next level.

If you are looking for options to buy boards I ask that you please give Heritage Wood Specialties a try. Thanks for supporting the companies that support our hobby.
