Talking Statistics: 50,000,000 milestone.

It's been a while since I added up the stats so I was surprised that we had reached a cool milestone. Since the blog started in 2007 there have been 50 million patterns downloaded from the Scrollsaw Workshop. That's almost a bunch.

I remember when I reached 100 patterns downloaded I was shocked. I never dreamed that these kinds of numbers were going to happen. It has been a great experience.

There a several other statistics that I track but I won't bore you with the details. Let me just say thank you for making the Scrollsaw Workshop a fun place for me to work everyday.

The Simply Wooden Creations Scroll Saw Artist Challenge Starts Soon:

Russ Claridy from Simply Wooden Creations will be doing the Scroll Saw Artist Challengs starting this October 1st. The theme this year will be clocks. Click the graphic above and use the coupon code CLOCKS-2017 to receive a 10% discount. You can pick up you clock parts and save a little money also. Bear Woods is sponsoring the contest this year and is offering a $150 gift certificater to first place. I have also thrown in $100 for second place and $50 for third place. That's $300 in gift certificates you have a chance to win.

Let me talk about how Russ does his contests. You have to build a project with the contests theme in mind. You can use your own pattern or a pattern you have received form another source. The project has to be built primarily with the scroll saw. You can use other tools to dimension your wood and other basic woodworking processes.

You have to take either video or still pictures while you build the project. Nothing fancy just follow you progress.

The video or picture slide show has to be uploaded to YouTube. If you do not have a YouTube account you will have to open one to be able to enter the contest. It's simple and it's free. I have told Russ I would help by making a video tutorial on how to start a YouTube account and upload your video.

Russ will be doing a tutorial on how to take your pictures and turn them into a video slide show that you can upload. We will be getting these completed soon so watch for them here on my blog.

Start thinking about your project because the contest starts October 1st. More details will be coming as the date gets here.
