Summer has officially ended here in the U.S. Fall is finally starting to show up. We are seeing highs in the upper 70's. It is perfect weather to get back in the workshop. I do have AC in the shop but it's nice to be able to turn it off and still be comfortable.
This is a good time to do a safety check around the shop. Take a few minutes and give everything a once over. There are lots of safety checklists online that you can find through Google so I won't bore you with my list. Accidents happen but most are preventable with just a little work upfront.
I did my safety walk through this past weekend and I found two serious issues. I had one outlet that was overloaded and starting to heat up. There were already scorch marks on the outlet. I had to correct and repair that situation. I also have an issue with my new laser engraver. It requires an external earth ground for safe operation. I have been gathering the materials I need to get that corrected.
There were also the usual tripping hazards and clutter that just keep coming back no mater how hard I try to keep thing organized. I worked on that and have it looking much better. I think I'm in a safer shop after my walk through.
