"There is no "DIS" in my Ability" Scroll Saw Pattern.

"There is no "DIS" in my ability." That's a very powerful statement. When I saw this quote I knew I wanted to make it into a pattern.

I am fortunate to be able to work with a few people who are overcoming challenges that their body puts in their way. Not every challenge can be eliminated but many can be reduced to the point that they can achieve a goal. In my work with these individuals the goal is to be able to use the scroll saw.

It takes a level of dedication from these folks that is truly impressive to see. Just think what it would be like if your hands were not strong enough to tighten the blade clamp. What about not being able to see the pattern lines clear enough to follow them with the blade. Would it be tough to maneuver a wheel chair up to a scroll saw stand?

All of these and other challenges are met by people every day. That is ability with no DIS.

Important Video, please take a few minutes to watch it:

Yesterday I posted a picture and ask if anyone knew what it tool might be for. Of course it was pretty easy to guess. It's a scroll saw blade alignment jig. The question is "Why would anyone need an electronic blade alignment jig?". Seems like overkill. Maybe not.

The answer is more serious than you might expect. In this video I show who this is for and briefly why it's important. I also ask for feedback on this and other ideas for future jigs. Take a few minutes to watch the video and I welcome feedback.
Eagle eyed Seyco scroll saw owners may see something in this video that's not normal. Did you see it? I be doing a video for tomorrows blog post to talk about it.

King Arthur's Tools 11307 Guinevere Total System for Sanding:

This is not a review. It is an ad. I own the King Arthur's Guinevere sanding system. It's expensive. It works great and I use it for many of my projects. What makes this sanding system so useful are the inflatable sanding drums. The air filled drums conform to the shape of the wood you are sanding giving a soft and gentle end result.

When I make a bowl on the scroll saw this tool works fantastic to sand away the the ring edges. I use it to quickly sand away burn makes for the edges of projects. That is especially handy after the router has put a burn mark on the edge. They are hard to sand out.

Like I said this is not an inexpensive tool but it has been worth the purchase for me. I have owned it for several years and it get's used a lot. I have a longer drum on the right and the flex hose on the left.

One tip. The hand air pump is not great. I use canned air to inflate the drums. One blast and they are inflated.
