Family Gifts Scroll Saw Pattern.


This plaque is 14.5" X 9"

Home Depot sells spruce panels that are not too bad for projects that will have a rustic feel. They are 20 inches X  four feet. Like all pine, it does not cut great because it will have soft spots. It's not my first choice for a project but it still has its place.

A larger wall hanging like this project is a good project for one of these spruce panels.



Quick Tip: Where do I start?

This is an easy technique that can add an extra touch of quality to your cutting. It does make a difference where you start and end a cut. When possible you want to start and end a cut at an intersection. This prevents the little nub that is often left when you try to meet up with the start of a cut on a line.

The best time to decide where you are going to start a cut is when you are drilling the entry holes. In the image above the red dot is the designation for the drill hole. The dotted line is where I would start the cut. Note that I started at an intersection of two lines in the middle of the H.

Sometimes you will not have this as an option. For example the interior of an oval. In that case, you have to rely on careful cutting. Nibbling away the nub and finsih sanding.
