Baseball Display Shelf Scroll Saw Pattern.

In loving memory of Alexis:

My heart is hurting tonight. My daughter and her husband lost their beautiful little dog, Alexis today. She passed after a short illness. She was smart, loving and a pure joy to be around. My puppy Holly and Alexis were best friends.  She was a part of our family. Alexis will be missed. Please keep my daughter and her husband in your thoughts. They are both feeling the pain of the loss.

I was asked by a family member if I would build a baseball display shelf for their son. He is an outstanding baseball player and loves the Chicago Cubs. I designed this 14 ball display and built it today.

I was originally just going to build it then I decided some of you may be interested in making one so I put together some plans. The plans are not like my normal patterns because this is largely a woodworking project. I include enough information in the plans that you should be able to build this without too much difficulty if you have the tools.

I am also including the blank template for the baseball bat topper. I added the young man's name to the bat. If you want to use the template you can add a custom name using Inkscape or other software.

I used pocket hole joinery for part of the build. Where there were 45-degree angles I just used glue and brad nails.  All the angle cuts are 45-degrees to keep things simple.
I purchased the lumber from Home Depot. I designed the shelves to be 3.75" deep. This makes it easy because you can buy the 1X4 boards off the shelf. Of course they are actually .75 X 3.75 so all you need to do is cut to length,
The recesses for the balls are 1.25" in diameter and 3/8" deep. If you do not have a forstner or spade bit you could cut these with the scroll saw.
I did not include it in the plans but I added a base to the baseball bat so it can just sit on the top of the shelf. I did not want it attached in case Bryce does not want it.
