Dragon Clock Scroll Saw Pattern.

This clock requires a 2 3/4" clock insert with a 2 3/8" mounting hole. The hole can be cut with your scroll saw or you can use a 2 3/8" Forstner bit. If you make lots of clocks then the Forstner bit comes in handy. They are expensive at this size though. Amazon Link for the Forstner bit.

You can get the clock inserts from Bear Woods. Here is the link to the 2 3/4" inserts.

It's so cheap that if the weather takes it out its no big loss.

1/8" Baltic Birch Plywood Round Box Scroll Saw Pattern.

This box is cut entirely from 1/8" thick Baltic birch plywood. There are a large number of interior cuts but it took me less than two hours to cut the project. I'll explain why it went so fast below.

What it the most difficult wood to cut? The answer might surprise you if you are new to the hobby.
By far the most difficult wood to cut is thin wood. When you are cutting thin wood there is very little resistance to the blade. This makes it very easy for the blade to run away from you. It's easy to wander off the pattern line.
Above I mentioned that this pattern took me less than two hours to cut. That's because I stack cut the side wall four at a time. This reduced the number of interior cuts and made the project go faster.

There is another benefit to stack cutting. I mentioned above that cutting thin wood can be difficult. If you stack cut more than one piece of thin wood you are no longer cutting thin wood. You will get that resistance back and the cut will be easier to control.

Stack cutting the side walls was obvious in this pattern but you could also stack cut the other parts and make two or more boxes.
If you are forced to cut thin wood then you want to slow the saw down quite a bit. I cut this project at 50% speed. I will also go to a much smaller blade. I used a #1 for all the parts that I did not stack cut.

Another trick I often use when cutting thin wood is to move my fingers closer to the blade. When your fingers are close to the blade and you make a turn the turn goes slower. This trick will slow you down and usually make you more accurate. With enough practice, you can learn to cut thin wood fast. The problem is that we don't often cut project from 1/8" thick wood. We just don't get much practice cutting that thin stock.

Laser Engraved Custom Signature Coins:

$12 per sheet of 12 coins plus $3.50 shipping.

The holidays are fast approaching. You will be making special
projects for family and friends. Some of these projects will
outlast you by many years. When your great-grandchild looks
at that project fifty years from now they will know who made it for them.

These coins cost are going to add $1.30 in cost to your project.
That is a minimal amount to have a unique signature on that project.

If you are a scroll sawyer you will love the unique scroll saw designed coins.
There is one for the ladies and the guys.

If you want to be more traditional then you can order the woodworker design or the tree.
Better yet order two sheets. One with the scroll saw design and one with the woodworker. I can put both sheets in one envelope saving the shipping cost for two orders.

Oval Key Chain Maker Software:

I have not talked about my software in a few years. I have a few programs available on my blog that let you design and print simple scroll saw patterns. This one lets you design and print Custom Name Keyfobs. These make great quick gifts.

These programs are free. Here is the catch. They are not supported. Download and use them but if you can't get them to work then I can't really help you. Software support is just way too time-consuming so that's why they are free. I have used all of them on Windows up to an including Windows 10. They will work with most printers but not all of them.

These programs are also Windows only.

If you need split rings you can get them here.

If you need bead chain you can get them here.

See how the software works.

All the software I have available is on the blog. Just visit the blog and scroll down until you see the software. www.scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com
