Happy Grandparents Day.

Today is National Grandparents Day in the US. These patterns are simple but show the respect we have for the people who are often the heart and soul of the family.

When I was just a year old my mother had a terrible car accident. She spent almost a year in the hospital and many months of rehab after that. During that time I lived with my grandmother. My grandmother was a widow and had lived alone for many years. I filled a place in her life that we both needed and we became very close.

Even after my mother became able to care for us children again I would still spend my summers with my grandmother. I did that until her death when I was about ten years old.

She had grown up on a farm and lived a very simple life. Her attention was spent on the church, her garden and me. Those were wonderful times for me because I knew how much she loved me and I felt very safe.

I'm sure many of you have special memories of your grandparents also. If you are fortunate enough to still have your grandparents around I hope you will honor them with a thank you and maybe a nice gift made from this pattern.

Happy Grandparents Day

Quick Note:
I know that I am difficult to reach through email. I wish I could do more and I'm sorry that I am not able to answer many of the notes. Please do not take it as disrespect when you don't get a reply. I simply do not have enough time in the day to get to all the email. Believe it or not, I will get as many as one hundred emails in a day.

Here are the two most common emails that I get and can be answered here:

"Can you send me a pattern again?" All of the patterns get posted in the online catalog after they are posted on the blog. If you have misplaced a pattern please visit the online catalog to retrieve it. Here is the link to the catalog. When you open the catalog set a bookmark. The link to the catalog is also at the top of the blog. http://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/

"Can you make a custom pattern for me?" Maybe. I am happy to hear what you are looking for. If you don't get a reply then I am probably not going to be able to help. I don't do patterns for a fee.
