This box is 5.5" X 5.5" X 3.5" and is cut from 1/4" soft maple. Aoo the parts are 1/4" thick. The box is pretty easy to cut but the fretwork design took me about four hours to cut.
I installed an optional music box movement. I like these movements. I got them from Amazon. They are attractive and sound pretty good. If you but one remember that they will not have any volume until they are attached to wood. If you just wind it up and play it in your hand it will be very low.
I did not put a cover over the music movement because it was an option. You may want to build a small box over the movement.
