Scroll Saw Relief Cut Cats Clock Pattern.

Some of the most popular patterns I create are pet patterns. We love our pets. Today's pattern is a relief cut cat clock.

For those of you not familiar with a relief cut one the scroll saw it is basically a cut made with the blade tilted at a small angle. The cut produces a cone-shaped piece that pushes out or in a certain amount and wedges tight.

There are complete instructions included in the pattern.

The project requires a 2 3/4" clock insert. I get mine from www.bearwood.com.

In the picture above you see where I made test cuts in the same board for the project to determine the best angle for the cuts. The board I used was 1 inch thick and I was using a #5 blade. The angle used was 1 degree. Remember that the angle will change if you use a different thickness of wood or a different blade. Always do the test cut.

CNC Talk:

A fellow content creator and friend Javi Unzueta recently produced a video that a few of you may find interesting. This is not scroll saw related in any way other than the fact that Javi uses my scroll saw patterns to produce CNC patterns.

The numbers of CNC and Laser users coming to my blog for patterns grows every year. I love the fact that many of my patterns work fine with those machines also.

If you may be considering the purchase of a CNC machine you might find some helpful tips in the video. If you don't have any interest in these machines then just skip this because the video is over an hour long.

I also own both a CNC machine and a laser cutter/engraver. If you are interested in getting started with these machines I am happy to try to answer your questions. Just shoot me an email and I'll try to get it answered. After Christmas, my email should slow down so if you don't get an answer now try again after the holidays.
