Yet Another Passive Amp Scroll Saw Pattern.

These smartphone passive amps are probably more of a novelty than actually are useful. I have designed a few of these and I keep trying to get more volume. This is the best I have designed so far. I have not measured the volume increase but I would guess it is about a 50% to 75% increase.

It does also have another benefit. It seems to increase the fullness of the music. Maybe more bass?

I made this prototype out of Baltic birch plywood but you can also use a nice hardwood.

I added a leather seal over the opening to help keep the sound in the channel.

After I glued up the tube I sanded an angle so the cone would be angled up. It just looks better.

GVS SPR451 Elipse P100 Half Mask Respirator, Small/Medium

I own this Half Mask Respirator and use it when I stir up lots of dust. It's a bit too big to use while I ma working at the scroll saw but it's great for working at the table saw or when I empty the dust collector. It is the most comfortable half mask I have tried.

  • Compact, lightweight and flexible design
  • Adapts perfectly to the face and offers a full range of vision without interfering with other eye or ear protections
  • Large central non-return valve which allows for a reduction of the user's breathing resistance and moisture build-up inside the mask to a minimum
  • Protects against dust that can cause lung disease
  • Lightweight, non-slip strap that is easily adjusted in 4 positions for improved comfort and to allow safe use even in high humidity or wet conditions
