Fretwork Display Stand Scroll Saw Pattern.

This display stand is cut from 1/4" Baltic birch plywood and painted white. I normally don't like to paint my projects but in this case, I think it worked out okay.

The top is eight inches in diameter so it's large enough to hold most indoor flower pots. Obviously, this project could be used as a display stand for other decorative objects.

Bonus Pattern. Dowel Drilling Jig:

This is not a jig you will need often but when you do it is helpful to have. Holding dowels or even square stock on end to drill a hole, in the end, can be difficult. This jig simply helps hold the stock parallel to the drill bit.

I was reminded of this jig by YouTuber, Stumpy Nubs. He recently produced a video showing this jig. You can see his demonstration of the jig at this link. Stumpy Nubs Video Link.

My version just adds additional sizes V's.

If your hole is intended to be in the center of the dowel then use a center finding guide to mark the center.

I like to use a handscrew clamp but even a quick release clamp will work(Not as well). Place the dowel in the appropriate V and add clamping pressure. Make sure the jig is held flat to the table.

If you don't own handscrew clamps they can come in handy. Amazon has a decent one for $14.72. Harbor Freight has one for under $8. It's not bad. I bought one from HF a few years ago and I cracked it. It was probably my fault. The metal end caps also came off after a few uses.

Drill the hole. Don't try to drill all the way in one movement. Drill part way in the lift the bit to clear the shavings. Continue until you reach the depth you need.

A small dowel in the center V.

Drill the hole.

You can drill as small as a 1/4" diameter dowel with the jig.

You will want to use at least one-inch thick wood for the jig.

Silhouette SILHOUETTE-CAMEO-3-4T Wireless Cutting Machine - AutoBlade - Dual Carriage - Studio Software

I own the Cameo Silhouette 3 Vinyl cutter. It cuts more than vinyl but that is how I primarily use the machine. The software is easy to use and the hardware works very well. The AutoBlade makes setup a breeze.

I have made dozens of custom mugs and water bottles for trade shows and they come out great. (Not available for sale.). If you are a scrapbooker then the Cameo Silhouette will give you more creativity. If you want to make custom vinyl decals for cars or trucks the Cameo Silhouette will get it done.

I have used this machine a lot and rarely have a failed cut. When you think about how precise this thing has to be that is pretty remarkable.
