Stacked Ring Basket Scroll Saw Pattern.

This stacked ring basket is made from two sets of stacked rings stacked in the opposite order. The two sets of rings can be stack cut to speed up the process.

When you assemble the top set of rings the last three rings are discarded to keep the mouth from getting too small. Then two extra rings of the same size are added to the top for a rim.

I did not use the center of the rings as a bottom. I cut a separate piece because I wanted the two bottom rings to be the same size to create a foot. This is optional. You can use the center of the rings
as the bottom, if you like that better.

You will speed up the cut if you stack cut this pattern.

Gluing these rings is always difficult to keep the glue from showing. You do not need much glue to hold these rings together. Just use a dot at each point. After the glue dries use an Exacto knife to cut off any squeeze out.

Steve Garrison, Scroll Saw Artist.

The greatest artist is not a subject that is up for debate. Mother nature wins hands down. The ordered randomness of nature creates awe-inspiring beauty. Mimicking natural design is a great way to create successful art. Steve Garrison has taken this approach for several years with much success.

I first saw one of Steve's scroll saw shells nearly ten years ago and was intrigued and impressed. Luckily for us, Steve shared his technique and hundreds of scrollers have made these shells. If you want a challenge then I suggest you check out some of the eBooks and patterns that Steve offers.

Steve recently posted another video(above) showing his newest design. If you have ever experimented with fractals you will instantly see the ordered randomness of the fractal in this design.

Large Stick Fast Starter Kit 12.5 oz Activator 4.5 oz Thin CA 4.5 oz Medium CA 4.5 oz Thick CA

I have used this Stick Fast brand of CA glue for some time now. I have had very good luck with it for fast gluing scroll saw projects together. It is not right for every project but if you need something held firmly and cures fast this works great.
