Craft Room Art Scroll Saw Pattern.

We all want our work areas to inspire and motivate us. If it is our workshop or craft room we should make it an enjoyable place to be. Adding art can do the trick.

This piece of craft room art has the added touch of being mounted to a fabric covered board. I thought that was appropriate for sewing machine art.

The fretwork backer board is painted the color of your choice. My wife likes red so red it was. The project backer board is wrapped in fabric. I used a piece of curtain. I wanted something heavy so it would wear well. Make sure you round over the edges of the board before you staple on the fabric. This helps keep the board from tearing the fabric.

I was never very good at upholstery but I got it cut and wrapped without too much mess. The backer board is 1/2" thick Baltic birch plywood but anything will be fine. Use what you have that is cheap.

I attached the painted board to the backer board with a couple of nails. Put them in a spot where the fretwork will cover the heads.

The fretwork was attached with CA glue and activator. For a more secure attachment, you could add a couple of small head nails. Put them at each end of the words or in a place where they look natural.

Strangest thing I have ever reviewed. I don't care, I like it.

Let me start out this review with a disclaimer. This thing may be junk. I don't have a clue if it will last a day or a year. I am reviewing it because I like it a lot. If I can get a year out of it I will be happy. It's not that expensive. $11.99.

It is pretty obvious what it is. It is a neck wearable three-speed rechargeable fan. No batteries to buy but no charger included. You have to have one or buy one. USB mini jack.

I may look like a dork but I am a cooler dork. At my age, I can't look cool anyway. The fans are surprisingly powerful on high speed. At first, when I turned it on I did not realize it had three speeds. Low speed was disappointing. My wife read the instructions(She does that for some reason) and told me how to turn it up. Then I was impressed. Push the button once to turn it on. Each successive push bumps the speed up and then turns the fans off.

Like I said above it does not come with a charger or cable. It uses the standard mini USB charging cable with any USB charger. I have these things all over the house so that was not a problem for me. If you don't have a charger it will probably double the cost.

It is very lightweight and comfortable. I used it to take my dog outside. It was close to 90 degrees and this thing did not make me cool by any stretch but it did make me more comfortable.

I plan to use it in my workshop. I like it there because it goes with me when I move around the shop.

There are a couple of things that are a problem. The fans are easily adjustable but if you point them toward your eyes two things can happen. My eyes started to dry out after an hour. The fans may also force more sawdust into your face. I adjusted the fans toward the sides of my big noggin and those problems went away.

I would also recommend a ponytail if your hair is long. I don't think the fans are powerful enough to do any harm but it could be embracing trying to untangle the fan at the dog park.

Here is a thought I had. Don't use this as safety advice because it may not work. You can turn the fans to blow away from your face. Fine sawdust that floats in the air may be blown away by the fans and not reach your face. That could be a cool use if it works. Seems like it can't hurt. A dust mask is still the best option but I may experiment a little.

What you see in the picture above is what comes in the box. It was charged and ready to use. The out of the box charge lasted 2.5 hours at high speed. That's not bad.

I have a power brick that I use for my rechargeable electronics when traveling. I have not given it a full test yet but I expect it will run for many hours when attached to the power brick. I plugged it in and put the brick in my pocket out of the way. It works fine.

I said above that I have no idea if this device will hold up well. Using it in a workshop may be a bad idea because of the dust. I just don't know if it will last. I will say that the feel of the device is pretty solid. It is all plastic but does not feel cheap.

There are several sellers of this device on Amazon. The seller I purchased from is out of stock now but this link is the same product sold by a different company but fulfilled by Amazon.
