When words are etched in stone it symbolizes that they cannot be changed. They are the rule of the land. When words are carved in wood it symbolizes nothing but that doesn't mean they are not funny.
Okay, my funny may not be your funny but I am the one doing the patterns. :) My wife insists that I am not funny. Every time I jump out from behind a door and scare her she says "That is not funny!". She has to be wrong because I laugh every time.

CA Glue and Activator:
Buy
I use a lot of CA glue when building my projects. I also get email asking what CA glue is. Cyanoacrylate glue is often called Super Glue. Most traditional adhesives are water-based. CA glue is composed of acrylic resin and the main ingredient is cyanoacrylate. When cured if transforms to a plastic state.
CA glue has special bonding properties. CA glue will only bond two surfaces when moisture is present. If you apply it to a completely dry surface is will not stick to the surface or bond the two pieces. You have probably used Super Glue on some object and became disappointed that it would not bond the parts together. This is most often due to lack of moisture.
Wood normally has enough moisture content to activate the curing process of CA glue. If you have trouble you can buy the CA glue activator to help set off and speed up the curing process. I almost always use the activator.
Not every glue-up is suitable for CA glue. CA glue cures almost instantly with the activator. You often have only one chance to get the parts aligned before it's too late. If I know I need setup time I will use wood glue. If I am confident I can get the parts located easily I will use CA just because it is fast and I don't have to wait for the glue to cure.
On occasion, I will use both CA glue and wood glue on the same joint. I use the CA glue as a simple clamp to hold the joint together while the wood glue sets up.
When I read the bonding properties of CA glue it often says that the shear strength is good. I don't always find that to be true. I think that the shear strength of yellow wood glue is better. When I use both types of glue on a joint I get the instant bond from the CA glue and the strong bond of the wood glue when it cures. I have not tried to prove this technique with a test but I have done it for many years and it seems to be effective.
CA glue comes in thin, medium, and thick. Choose a viscosity that does not absorb completely into the surfaces being bonded. You will choose thin for non-porous surfaces. For wood, I almost always use the medium.
There are times when thin is used on wood. For small applications, it can be used as a protective finish. The thin CA will be absorbed as it is applied. You can use this to build up layers of protection. Pen turners often use this technique. It can give a beautiful gloss surface when applies correctly.
The price of CA glue can be intimidating. It is not as bad as it looks because you use small amounts for almost all projects. You would not normally use CA glue to bond large wood surfaces. It is used for bonding small part together. The 4.5oz bottle will last me a few months of normal project building.
There are several brands of CA glue. I have used the Stick Fast brand lately because I can order it from Amazon. It has been excellent. Woodcraft sells a few different brands. I think I have used most of them and they all worked fine. I don't think there is much of a difference from one brand to another.
One last tip. It's gross so read with caution :) When I worked in the field we would often use CA glue on parts for a temporary fix while waiting for a replacement. We could not order the activator so all we had was the glue. When it would not bond on two parts we would spit on it. Gross but it worked. The activator is obviously the better choice. It produces a fine mist and prevents yellowing and foaming.
