Four Styles of Desk Organizer Scroll Saw Pattern.

 Download Below

I needed a desk organizer tray so that is today's project. I needed a place for my iPhone and business cards. One of the designs replaces the business card holder with a pen/pencil holder. I also included one without a business card or smartphone holder. You can see a diagram of all four designs below.

The smartphone slot is the cut that you may need to alter. I have a case on my iPhone so I made the slot larger. You may need to adjust for your phone.

The phone slot also has a hole for the power cable to come through. There needs to be enough room for the power cable to plug into the phone. I put rubber feet on the bottom of the organizer to get it higher.

This is a two-layer design. To get a good glue-up of the layers you want to select boards that are relatively flat.

In this project, it is important that the lines be cut as straight as possible. A crooked cut will really show up in this project. Sand away any miscuts before you to the glue-up.

The picture below shows the rubber feet I used. These are self-stick feet that you can get at almost any hardware store.

The next image shows the four designs.

75 Years of Anniversary Scroll Saw Patterns.

Download Below

The wedding anniversary is one of the most significant events in a couple's life. It celebrates a commitment to each other that was promised on their wedding day.

There are 75 patterns in the book. Obviously one for each anniversary year between 1 and 75. This is a large plaque. It is ~11" tall and 10" wide. I am showing the simulated image with a red painted backer board.

What is the oldest wedding anniversary?

The world's oldest married couple aged 110 and 103, say life and marriage are all about being happy… West Yorkshire couple Karam Chand aged 110 and his 103-year-old wife Kartari celebrated their 90th wedding anniversary, making them the world's oldest married couple.

Patty and I have been married 40 years and we are not even close to halfway to the record. :)

Beginner Tip: Perfect sharp turns.

Turning a scroll saw blade to cut is another direction requires some practice. Even with practice, the turn will be somewhat rounded. The blade has to remove material to be able to make the turn so it won't be a perfectly square transition.

In the photo above I have a square pattern that I want to have nice sharp corners. I will be cutting in the direction of the red arrows.

When I get to the end of the line I don't try to make the turn. I keep cutting into the waste area of the wood. I circle around in the opposite direction and come back to the line perfectly lined up.

As long as I intercept the line on point I will have a perfectly sharp corner. I simply use the same technique at each corner until I get back to the beginning.

Not every corner will need to be this perfect but when they do the above technique is the best alternative.

One last reminder:

October 12 and 13, 2019. The Artistry in Wood Show is quite simply one of the most amazing woodworking events that I have ever attended. The level of skill at this show is world-class. When I walked in the door for my first visit my jaw dropped. You seldom have a chance to see this much beautiful art in one location. I am really looking forward to this weekend.

I will be the guest of Bear Woods and Grobet USA in their booth. If you plan to attend the sho I would love for you to stop and say hello.
