Awl shucks, It's a DIY awl:
Drilling holes in a precise location can be difficult. The drill bit will often walk around when it hits the surface of the wood. That's where an awl comes in handy. Press the awl into the wood at the exact location and the drill bit will seat in that hole as it enters the wood. Easy enough but what if you don't have an awl? Make one.
I don't throw out old Phillips screwdrivers. I take them to my grinder and sharpen them to a point. They come in handy for all types of jobs other than as an awl. I don't want to use my purchased awl for jobs that may damage the tool so I grab the sharpened screwdriver.
It does take some careful grinding to get a point as sharp and a good purchased awl.

You can use last names on the ornaments if you like but remember that the more letters the more
difficult they are to cut. Ten letters and up gets pretty small. If you need to you can enlarge the patterns by 10% to make the interior cuts larger. No special characters are supported. I can get a hyphen in there but it looks odd. It has to connect the two letters so it does not just fall out.
