Klingspor Woodworking Extravaganza Show Pictures:

Here are a few more pictures from the show.  Saturday was another busy day at the show. I have attended quite a few woodworking events over the years and I believe this was the most active crowd I have seen. People were there to buy. All the vendors I spoke with were pleased with the turnout and sales.

I was the guest of the Carolina Scrollers club. They had a great booth setup. There were many scroll saw projects on hand to draw attention to the hobby and help grow interest from the folks at the show. I am sure there were several woodworkers who left feeling like the scroll saw might be a nice addition to their shop.

These ladies of the Carolina Scrollers were the hardest workers at the entire event. They kept the booth going with the ornament sales. They raised an impressive total that went to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank. Job well done.

The club also presented demonstrations. Brian and Mike drew a nice crowd with their intarsia and fretwork demonstrations. Both of these guys knew the subject and clearly inspired the spectators to go home and try new techniques. The demonstrations were presented free to all comers. Thanks guys.

The club had a brag table as well as items for sale. It was fun to watch the reactions of people walking by. I heard several comments that these were the most beautiful projects at the show. I had to agree.

Before the show would start each morning I had a few minutes to catch up with old friends. It was nice to get to talk with guys I have known for years but only get to see at the shows.

There were demonstrations at many of the booths. I did not have time to attend the demos but I could see they were well attended. There are always fantastic woodworkers at these shows keeping things interesting.

My table was right next to Grobet USA. They were there with their Pegas scroll saw and the incredible Pegas Scroll Band Saw. I was blown away by the number of scrollers who attended the show. Bob Duncan from Grobet stayed busy every minute demonstrating both saws. I believe he left with a smile on his face. Sales were good.

Beautiful Corian mug cut on the scroll saw show to me by a show visitor.

I was overwhelmed and so appreciative of all the folks who stopped by to show me projects, pictures and stories about their scroll saw work. The Carolina area is a hotbed for woodworkers and that includes a lot of scrollers.

There were very few moments when I was not talking with a passionate woodworker/scroller. One of the most encouraging things I saw were the number of young adults and children in attendance. I can't tell you how many teenage woodworkers who stopped to chat. One young man who was probably 15 or 16, had already studied with some of the finest woodworkers in the country.  His enthusiasm was great to see.

Another young lady named Elizabeth was there with her mother who was also a crafter. It was fun to see how much they loved working together. The mother enjoyed crafting jewelry and Elizabeth was a scroll saw artist. We talked about them combining their skills to create even more beautiful work. They were so inspiring to talk with.

If this show is any indication then the art of scrolling is still active and growing. Shows like the Klingspor Woodworking Extravaganza are a big part of keeping our hobby active.

I want to thank the Carolina Scrollers, Klingspor, and all the visitors for making this a great show and a wonderful experience for me.

 Getting back on schedule:

I'll be back home Monday night. I will work as hard as possible to get caught up. Most of the blog activities have been on pause while I traveled. I appreciate every ones patience.

Personalized Christmas Ornament Patterns:

I am still making good progress on ornament patterns. I should be able to get caught up today. If you have orders in the queue, keep your eye on your email inbox.

The price is $1 per name with a 5 name minimum. I keep the price as low as possible
because I want everyone to have a chance to make these ornaments for family and friends.

You only pay after you have received the order and are
100% satisfied with the patterns. Invoice included with
the pattern email. Pay by credit card(secure Paypal), check, or cash.

The patterns will be emailed to you after they are completed.
Please allow up to a week for delivery.

You can use last names on the ornaments if you like but remember that the more letters the more
difficult they are to cut. Ten letters and up gets pretty small. If you need to you can enlarge the patterns by 10% to make the interior cuts larger. No special characters are supported. I can get a hyphen in there but it looks odd. It has to connect the two letters so it does not just fall out.

$12 per sheet of 12 coins plus $3.50 shipping
Inlay with a 1" Forstner Bit.
The perfect way to sign your work.
