16 Six inch Trivets Scroll Saw Patterns

 Download Below

These are not ornaments. They are six-inch trivets. The hole at the top is for hanging. There are 16 random patterns included. There is no theme they are just all six inches.

I always get asked this question. "Will the wood burn if the pot is too hot?". Yes, it will scorch. "Can I add a finish that will keep them from scorching?". No. If the pot is so hot that it scorched the trivet then the trivet did its job.

Cutting trivets from Corian is an option that can look nice. Corian can be difficult to find and it is not cheap but it looks nice when cut. Some guys have had success looking for countertop installers and getting their scraps.

You need to use a skip tooth blade when cutting Corian. Reverse tooth blades will generate too much heat and fuse the Corian as you cut.

Foot Switch for your Scroll Saw:

I had this question from a couple of new scrollers this week. They wanted to know the advantage of using a footswitch on the scroll saw. They also wanted to know what type to purchase.

The type is an easy question. You want a dead man style footswitch. That just means that the saw run while your foot depresses the switch and stops as soon as you lift your foot. Some people prefer the on/off style but I don't recommend that style. The on/off style start the saw when you click the switch. You can then lift your foot and the saw will still continue to run. You have to click it again to stop the saw.

The obvious advantage is that the footswitch keeps both of your hands free to hold the wood. For some fine fretwork, you don't want to let go of the wood just to hit the on/off switch. The footswitch is nearly instant. The instant stop can be to your advantage if the blade grabs the wood and starts to bounce it up and down. I probably the most important reason is that it is just convenient.

I only scroll with a footswitch. I feel clumsy at the saw when I don't have one.

The footswitch in the ad above is the MLCS 9080 Billy Padal footswitch. I own three or four of these and they have been pretty reliable. I have had to take two of them apart over the years to clean the sawdust out. They get intermittent when they get loaded down with dust.

Personalized Christmas Ornament Patterns:

I am still making good progress on ornament patterns. I should be able to get caught up today. If you have orders in the queue, keep your eye on your email inbox.

The price is $1 per name with a 5 name minimum. I keep the price as low as possible
because I want everyone to have a chance to make these ornaments for family and friends.

You only pay after you have received the order and are
100% satisfied with the patterns. Invoice included with
the pattern email. Pay by credit card(secure Paypal), check, or cash.

The patterns will be emailed to you after they are completed.
Please allow up to a week for delivery.

You can use last names on the ornaments if you like but remember that the more letters the more
difficult they are to cut. Ten letters and up gets pretty small. If you need to you can enlarge the patterns by 10% to make the interior cuts larger. No special characters are supported. I can get a hyphen in there but it looks odd. It has to connect the two letters so it does not just fall out.

$12 per sheet of 12 coins plus $3.50 shipping
Inlay with a 1" Forstner Bit.
The perfect way to sign your work.
