Matchbox Candle Scroll Saw Pattern.

Download Below

How about a ten-minute scroll saw project? This little tea light candle is 3.5" X 2" X 1.5". It is made from three stacked 1.2" thick boards. The empty space holds a standard size box of matches.

I have to admit that this concept is not my original idea. I saw one similar on Pinterest. I added the graphic to add a bit more interest. There are a few different designs with the pattern.

I like this project because I think it looks nice and it has a practical side. Make a few of these to sit around the house for emergency lighting. You will always have matches with your candle.

You can cut the hole for the candle with your scroll saw but you may get better results if you use a 1.5" Forstner bit. If you cut the hole with your saw just go slow and be as accurate as possible.

If you would like a basic set of Forstner bits, the ones above are the Amazon Basics set. They have a 4/5 rating and are value-priced at $32.99. This kit has the basic 14 sizes. The 1" bit is handy for my Signature coins. The 1 3/8" is what you need for the mini-clock inserts and the 1.5" bit will work for tealight candles. There is just no easier way to get a perfect hole at the exact size than a Forstner bit.

These bits are obviously not the highest quality steel at this price but if you are careful with them they will last quite a while. Don't force these bits. Let the bit do its work without too much heat build-up. Cut to a shallow depth and then back the bit out to clear the chips. Repeat this until you reach the depth you need. I have owned a basic set of Forstner bits for ten years and they are still in good shape.

Personalized Christmas Ornament Patterns:

I am still making good progress on ornament patterns. I should be able to get caught up today. If you have orders in the queue, keep your eye on your email inbox.

The price is $1 per name with a 5 name minimum. I keep the price as low as possible
because I want everyone to have a chance to make these ornaments for family and friends.

You only pay after you have received the order and are
100% satisfied with the patterns. Invoice included with
the pattern email. Pay by credit card(secure Paypal), check, or cash.

The patterns will be emailed to you after they are completed.
Please allow up to a week for delivery.

You can use last names on the ornaments if you like but remember that the more letters the more
difficult they are to cut. Ten letters and up gets pretty small. If you need to you can enlarge the patterns by 10% to make the interior cuts larger. No special characters are supported. I can get a hyphen in there but it looks odd. It has to connect the two letters so it does not just fall out.

$12 per sheet of 12 coins plus $3.50 shipping
Inlay with a 1" Forstner Bit.
The perfect way to sign your work.
