Fretwork Bird Scroll Saw Pattern. Merry Christmas.

I want to take a minute and say Merry Christmas to all of you. Thank you for another wonderful holiday season here at the Scrollsaw Workshop. I hope that all of you who celebrate Christmas have a day of peace, joy, and happiness. Enjoy Family and friends. Be careful in your travels and remember the reason for the season.

I'll take a couple of days off to spend time with my family. After Christmas, I'll be right back to work and we can all get ready for 2020.

The wingspan of this fretwork bird is 8.5". She is cut from 1/8" Baltic birch plywood. The base is 1/4" BB plywood.

After I cut the bird above I was not happy with the pose so I included a slightly different pose where the bird is sitting more upright. You can choose or just make the pair.

Another WEN 3921 16" Scroll Saw Update.

I am receiving tons of emails about this entry-level scroll saw. Here is some more information I got from a reader who called WEN. The blade holder upgrades that I showed yesterday have been updated and will be available in a couple of weeks.

The new blade holders are a better fit for the 3921 and it will come with a wing bolt for toolless blade change.

I have not spoken with the WEN rep yet but I am told that they are taking advanced orders for the new blade holders. I don't know the price so you will have to ask. Here is the number I was given for contact with WEN. 1-847-429-9263.

I wanted to pass this information along as quickly as I could so you would know that things had changed since the video I posted yesterday.

One last point I would like to make about the WEN 3921. My review was informational and not a recommendation that you should buy the saw. This is an entry-level saw and that means there are quality compromises. Please understand that some who buy this saw will probably not be happy with it. I have spoken to a few people this week who have owned the saw for a while and are happy with it.

You have to have appropriate expectations when you buy any product. I don't want my short review of the saw to set your expectations too high. If you understand what you are buying and are on a tight budget then an entry-level saw can get you started in the hobby. Of all the entry-level saws I have spent any time with I like this one the best.
