Santa Door Wreath Scroll Saw Pattern

Download the Pattern Below

This pattern is large enough to hang on your front door. It is a little over ten inches square. Use baltic birch plywood and give it a good coat of exterior paint.

Personalized Christmas Ornament Patterns are ready to order:

I am ready to start taking Personalized Christmas Ornament Pattern orders.

I can do first or last names but remember that more than ten letters will be more difficult to cut.

The order form will take up to 20 names for people and 5 names for pets. If you need more than 20/5 then start a second order.

You will not pay until you have the patterns and are 100% happy with them. There will be an invoice sent with the patterns to your email. You will have the option to pay securely with a credit card or send a check to the included address.

I am shooting for a three-day turnaround but that may be difficult for a few days until I get all the kinks worked out. I'll do my best. You can set a bookmark for each of the order forms but I will post them almost every day until Christmas.

$1 per/name with a 5 name minimum.

$2 per/name no minimum.

My Two Cents Key Fob Scroll Saw Pattern.

This pattern idea was submitted by Tom Yocom. Tom emailed me with this idea. He had made one using my Key Fob pattern generator software and wanted to show me the results. I guess Tom and I both like corny because I thought it would make a funny gag gift.

I ask Tom if I could make a pattern and share it with anyone who likes corny as much as we do. I have a name for this kind of humor. I call it "Grandpa Funny". It falls in the same category as "Pull my finger", and "Your shoe is untied", with a tap on the chin when you look down.

The project is made from 1/8" thick Baltic birch plywood and two pennies. The pennies are trapped inside the key fob and slide back and forth.

To get a smooth action with not sticking you want to sand the thickness of the middle layer until it is just proud of the penny. If you leave it 1/8" thick the pennies will ride up on top of each other.

When you glue the pieces together make sure you watch the orientation of the words. You want them to be read right side up when you flip the key fob over.

Al Baggetta Scroll Saw Blade Memory device:

I received an email from Al today with a neat little tool. He made a video and is making the pattern available. After you watch the video just look under the video on YouTube for the link. It is a free pattern.

I am curious. Do any of you use a method to remember which blade is in your saw. I use such a small number of blades that it is pretty easy for me to know. I use # #5 or #3 95% of the time. If you use more than a few blades something like this could be useful.

Thanks for sharing Al.

Hey, this was a good day. Both parts of today's post were ideas from someone other than me. I like being lazy. Thanks, Tom and Al.

Queens Carriage Box Scroll Saw Pattern.

The pattern for this box comes in two sizes. The small pattern is 8" long. It is cut from 1/8" Baltic birch plywood.

The large pattern is 16" long and is cut from 1/4" Baltic birch plywood.

I spray painted the carriage with gold paint to give it a royal look. The box could be used for several purposes from candy to a candle. If you want to use a candle you will need to add a flat bottom. The design is a U shaped bottom. Just lay a flat piece over the U.

DeWalt DW788 Scroll Saw Currently $379 on Amazon:

This is a good price while it lasts. As of 11/27/2020 Amazon has the DW788 scroll saw priced at $379. Their normal price is $505. This may be a Black Friday sale but it is not listed that way so I'm not sure. If you look at the price chart below you will see that they don't discount this saw very often. The two prices that were lower, in 2013 and 2015 were phantom prices. I never saw that price and I watch pretty closely.

I have owned my DeWalt DW788 for almost 15 years. It has been a solid and reliable tool. It's no wonder that it is the most popular saw on the market for serious scrollers. I would not buy this saw if I were a production cutter. Meaning cutting more than five or six hours a day. There are other saws that will hold up to that much work better. If you want the best scroll saw on the market with no concern for price, then look elsewhere. There are better saws on the market. None of them are priced anywhere near $379. You can double this price for high-end saws.

If you cut on a regular basis and want a saw that will do just about any project that you can throw at it, then the DW788 is a good choice to look at.

There are hundreds if not thousands of scrollers who use the DW788 to run craft businesses.

So what do you get for your $379? The saw weighs over 55 lbs so it has enough heft to be a low vibration saw. Like all scroll saws, it needs to be mounted to a solid stand but if everything is setup right, it runs very smooth.

It features all upfront controls. If you have a saw that has the tension knob in the back then you need to try the DW788 to see how much easier it is.

Blade change is just about as easy as it gets. It has well-made chucks and easy thumbscrew blade removal. No tools needed.

It has a large cast-iron table. The DeWalt has considerably more table space in front of the blade than it is common on most saws. Most people like the extra space because it helps hold the board. The table also tilts a full 45 degrees both left and right.

The upper arm lifts for blade change. It is not designed to stay up by itself which is a bummer but there are ways to fix that problem.

Comes with a built-in air blower but the light is an additional cost.

At this price, the saw does not come with a stand. One is available on Amazon for $73. It is a quality stand. It will help prevent vibration. On tip is to make sure all the nuts and bolts are tight on the stand. Even one loose nut can induce vibration.

I have several high-end scroll saws and the DeWalt still gets used. If it was the only saw I owned it would be fine for what I do. It cuts a little aggressive compared to my other saws but I never noticed that until I had the high-end saws in my shop.

If you are looking to upgrade from an entry-level scroll saw I can easily recommend the DeWalt DW788

Disclaimer: The link at the top of this post is an affiliate link. If you purchase the saw through this link I get a small commission. Your price does not change. If you are not comfortable using affiliate links or just don't like Amazon, I noticed that Home Depot is matching the Amazon price online. They don't carry the saw in the store but they have it online. They are listing this as a Black Friday sale. I suspect both Amazon and Home Depot will increase the price back to normal next week. Just a guess.

The Bundle is also marked down from $611 to $485. That basically means you can get the bundle for less cash than the normal price on just the saw.
