Two Rope Puzzles Scroll Saw Patterns.

Rope Puzzle One. Get both rings on the same loop.
This one is pretty challenging.
Rope Puzzle Two. Unlink the ropes.
This one is a bit easier.

The pattern book has two patterns. This project just barely can be called a scroll saw pattern but I liked the puzzles so here we go. I did cut them on the scroll saw so that should count. You can use any tool that works for you. A table saw and drill press will get the job done.

To have any idea of how to solve these puzzles you need to watch the video. The video starts with construction details then shows the solutions.

Mark Cappitella gave me a call:

Please read. I would appreciate your help.

Yesterday I posted a video from Mark. He is a master puzzle maker. I hope you spent some time looking over his web page. It is fascinating. This man has had a decades-long career sitting in front of his scroll saw cutting jigsaw puzzles that sell all over the world.

I also ask for a favor yesterday. I want to see Mark do live YouTube events. He has so much experience cutting on a scroll saw that is content would be extremely valuable to our community. He probably has more time in front of a scroll saw than anyone in the world.

The problem is that you have to have 1000 subscribers on YouTube to host a live stream. If you would like to help me get Mark over that 1000 subscriber mark I would appreciate the help. We got him from 17 to 190 but I was hoping for more. Thanks so much for those who subed.

Another Video from Mark:
Watch the Video

After I made the post yesterday, Mark was kind enough to give me a call. He wanted to say thanks to all of you who watched yesterday's video and subscribed. We talked for several minutes which I enjoyed very much. It's not every day I talk with someone who has made a career with the scrollsaw.

He let me know that he made another video for you guys that show some of his techniques for freehand puzzle scrolling only with a template to help those new to puzzle cutting. In the video, he draws a template for a freehand type heart puzzle for Valentine's day. He suggests that you take a screenshot at the end of the video to have the pattern.

I took the liberty of recreating the heart trying to keep it as accurate as possible to his version. I did alter the shape of the heart to make it accurate but I kept the puzzle lines accurate to his drawing. You can download it below if you prefer that over the screenshot.

WEN 3410 3-Speed Remote-Controlled Air Filtration System (300/350/400 CFM)

This is added cheap insurance to protect your lungs and possibly your life. I lost a friend a couple years ago to a respiratory disease that could have been caused by wood dust exposure. This unit is not all the protection you need but it helps and is only $140.

  • Three-speed operation flows air at a rate of 300, 350, or 400 cubic feet per minute
  • Includes a 1-micron filter and a 5-micron pre-filter, both of which can be easily replaced
  • Programmable timer automatically shuts unit off after set number of minutes
  • Remote control allows users to set timer, change speed and power the unit on and off from up to 26 feet away
