A few years ago, when my wife retired it was a huge change for her. She had been in management for 30 plus years and had tons of responsibility. Between work and home, she was a very busy person. The sudden change to retired life was difficult. I was still going to be working for a few years and I thought she might like some company while I was not home. I bought her a dog for Christmas.
