Clay Flower Pot Stand Scroll Saw Pattern.

Download Below

This will be an easy pattern to cut for those who like potted outdoor plants. This uses the 3 1/8" clay pots. I used 1/2" thick wood for the stand and 1/4" thick wood for the lizard.

Just a reminder to use a waterproof glue like Titebond III.

If you want an exterior finish with UV protection, take a look at the affiliate link at the bottom of this post. I have had decent luck with Rust-Oleum clear spray. There is no finish that will protect the wood from direct sunlight and water forever. This is all about making the wood last as long as possible. Let the spray completely cure before you set it outside. Curing time is considerably longer than dry time. I would wait two or three days. The six-pack in the ad below is a good buy. It is under $4 a can. I go through tons of this stuff so I like the low price.

Cut the stake to your desired length. 20" is about the minimum.

Quick Tip:

If you own any of the tilting head scroll saws you may find this tip useful. This includes the Excalibur, Seyco, Pegas, Jet, King, and maybe a few others I can't remember.

On these saws, the upper arm is supposed to stay up by its self so you can easily change blades. After some use, you may find that the upper arm will not stay up or it may get difficult to raise.

I receive quite a few emails about this issue so I know many folks don't know that there is an adjustment for this problem.

If you look at the left rear of the saw you will see a nut with a slotted shaft in the middle. This is the adjustment for the above-mentioned problem. Loosen the nut a couple of threads. Use a flat head screwdriver and turn the shaft clockwise to tighten the arm. Normally you only need to turn it a fraction of a turn to make a difference.

If the arm is difficult to raise then turn the shaft counterclockwise.

Keep the screwdriver in the slot as you tighten the nut. This prevents the shaft from turning as you tighten the nut and messing up the adjustment.
