Hands Scroll Saw Pattern

Download Below
This is not an Intarsia pattern.

I try to make this blog a place where people can come and not be subjected to politics or controversial world events. It is not my intent to create controversy with today's pattern. This is a pattern that does approach the topic of race relations. I acknowledge that this is a topic of division in the US at this time. Sad but true.

I received an email from Sister Maria today. She had an idea for a pattern(email below). When I read her email I could feel her compassion and love for the people she shares this world with. I will admit that I was hesitant to get into this subject. I asked myself if it was appropriate for my blog. I was able to answer that question. "Where are compassion and love not appropriate?".

The message of this pattern is that we all walk together on this earth. The more of us who can take that walk holding hands and not hate or mistrust the better for all of us. Thank you, Sister Maria.

Hello Steve,

I know that you don't like to get involved in politics or world affairs. But would you ever consider making a design of "holding hands", one hand made of walnut wood and the other from maple? I totally understand if it's a little too controversial for you to design and post. Have a great day!

Let's take a minute to talk about the pattern. The picture makes it look a little like an intarsia project. I did not want this pattern to be complicated in any way so I eliminated the challenge of fitting the pieces together like intarsia. There are 7 simple pieces. They are lightly contoured by sanding. The 7 pieces are then glued to the backer board with gaps between the pieces. The gaps eliminate the need to cut and contour the pieces for a tight fit. The end result looks more graphic than realistic but for this piece, I think that is okay.

ED500P DataVac 500-Watt, 0.75-HP Electric Duster

Yes, this thing seems expensive at $80.99. The fact is that I would buy another one tomorrow if the one I own failed. I use it every day. It is an AC powered air blower. When I say blower I mean blower. This thing puts out a hurricane of air. I use it to blow sawdust off the wood before finishing. I use it to blow off my clothes before I leave the shop. I use it to help dry oil finish. I even use it to blow out the shop on cleaning day.
