Initial Plaques Scroll Saw Patterns.

Download Below

26 upper case initials, plus a plaque. This is a three-part pattern. You can also use the plaque without the letters for any other purpose. The opening is 6.5" diameter.

The backer board is ~10" tall. That makes an average size door ornament. If you print the pattern at 150% it is nearly 15" tall. That is a nice large door ornament.

If you use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as your default PDF viewer you can use the poster print feature. Most other standard print drivers do not have this option.

Follow up on the King scroll saw service:

This is a long blog entry. I think the excess words are worth getting this information out so please bear with me. Most of these issues are relevant to all scroll saw owners.

A couple days ago I ask for feedback from King scroll saw owners about their experience with service. I asked those questions because I had received an email from a reader who was having issues getting his two-month-old King 16" scroll saw repaired or replaced under warranty. I appreciate those of you who sent me feedback.

Yesterday I was contacted(email) by Peter Kennedy. Peter is the Vice President of King Canada Industrial division. He had been made aware of my blog post. He wanted to have a phone discussion to talk about the service policies they offer and also to help solve the problem my reader was having.

Today I had a long and pleasant phone conversation with Mr. Kennedy. Let me start by saying that Peter has contacted my reader and put a solution in motion to get his saw repaired or replaced. I have asked my reader to keep me in the loop but I feel confident there will be a positive outcome.

It looks like most of the issues my reader had with getting service from King Canada were communication issues. Email is often a poor method of communication. It looks like this situation boiled down to emails not getting through. As a guy who sends out nearly half a million emails a month, I can attest to the problems with email.

Now let me take a few words to talk about service in today's world. Remember when you stopped at a gas station and the attendant would run out and fill your tank while you set back and relaxed? If you do remember those days then you have a few years under your belt. We all know that world no longer exists.

There are many reasons for the changes but it mostly comes down to money. You can have, A+ service and very expensive products or you can have reasonably priced products and reasonable levels of service. We may want the best of both worlds but just like the gas station attendant, those days are gone. I'll be honest, I would rather pay less for gas and fill the tank myself.

Back to the original topic of King Canada's service policies. My discussion with Mr. Kennedy gave me confidence that they have procedures in place to resolve problems. If you live in the US and have issues with your King Scroll saw they will make arrangements for you to take the tool to a contracted service center in your area. That procedure eliminates the financial cost of shipping the tool to a service center in Canada. No, the Maytag man will not show up at your house with a smile and fix your machine then take your dog for a walk. King's process gets the same results without the dog walk and the high cost of service is greatly reduced.

In general, the first option for repair from most companies is that they ship the parts and you fix it yourself. I know some people don't like that option but it works okay more often than not. If fixing it your self is not appealing to you then a feather in the cap goes to King. They don't currently ship parts for self-repair. Both options have pros and cons. We just need to know upfront what the policy is then we can decide what we need.

I always find it interesting how we can prejudge others without having a conversation with them first. I made that mistake today. When I got the email from Peter and read that he was the Vice President of King Canada, I prejudged him and expected typical corporate spin. Boy was I wrong.

Peter Kennedy has been with this community since the early days when Tom Summerville was producing the original Dewalt scroll saws in Canada. Peter has been front and center through all the years of changes and drama with the Excalibur line of scroll saws. The man knows as much about scroll saws as anyone out there. He spoke to me in clear, no spin words. I appreciated that very much.

I could spend a few thousand more words on this subject but I see you have already fallen asleep. I will wrap this up with a final thought. Servicing a customer after they have purchased your product is extremely important. In today's world of Facebook, Twitter, and online reviews your product and service can be judged harshly by a single individual, fairly or unfairly. I never want to be the person who unfairly judges a company based on limited information.

I can say that today I have more information to base my opinion of King Canada. I feel comfortable that they care about making customers pleased with both their product and service. Like every other company, they will make mistakes. Judge them on their mistakes but equally, judge them on how the fix the mistake.
