Here is a number that kind of blows my mind. There are over 2 billion bicycles in use around the world. The US accounts for somewhere around 100 million of that number. There are a few countries where the bicycle is a more common mode of transportation than the car.
Copenhagen is considered the most bicycle-friendly country in the world. Around 2015, Copenhagen imported more bicycles than cars for the first time. It has continued to grow. The US is not in the top 20 of bicycle-friendly countries.
Washington, Minnesota, and California are the most bike-friendly states. North Dakota, Alaska, and Nebraska are considered the least friendly to bicycle transportation. These stats are based on several factors including infrastructure, funding, policing, and education. They don't seem to take into consideration that a bicycle in Wyoming takes a week to get to your closest neighbors' ranch.
I used to work with a guy who rode his bike to work most days. He had about a 15-mile commute. When he would come into his shop he would always say "Good day for a ride".
Pegas Chuck Differences:
Watch the Video
I want to try to clear up some confusion about the Pegas Chuck Head replacement parts. There are three different kits for different saws.
Look at the photos below. The top kit is for the DeWalt DW788 and the Delta 40-694 scroll saws.
If you look closely you will see that it does not have the white lever for quick tension. Those saws already have a lever so the white one may be considered a duplicate. There is a BUT. Many guys use the kit in the second photo and have both levers. They set the DeWalt tension bar to a rough adjustment then use the white lever as a quick tension. In the video above Miter Mike shows how to use the white lever on the DeWalt. I'll leave it up to you if the difference is something you like.
The second photo below shows the Pegas kit for the Pegas, King, Seyco, and Excalibur. On those machines, the quick release lever is how tension is applied, so these chucks need that also.
The bottom photo is a kit for the Jet scroll saw. It replaces only the bottom clamp so you can keep the unique Jet upper clamp.
Okay, I think I made mud out of that explanation. If you own a DeWalt or Delta scroll saw and want to upgrade to the Pegas Chucks then watch the video above. It will make more sense.
By the way. When you watch the video, it is not a color problem with the video. He painted the saw orange.
There are price differences between the kits.
One of the reasons this subject came up is that the DeWalt/Delta version of the kit is out of stock for a few days. If you have one on backorder I believe Stephen will let you switch your order to the Pegas kit with the white lever. Just remember that it is more expensive but it will work.
