Alabama National Champions Scroll Saw Pattern.

Wow. The Alabama Crimson Tide looked unbeatable last night in the National Championship game against Ohio State. The crazy thing is that Ohio State played a nice first half and was still down three scores going into the half time locker room.

Ohio State scored first in the second half and it looked like the game may get interesting. Alabama was not going to let that happen. They dominated the rest of the game and finished with a 52 -24 win.

Congratulations to all of the Alabama and Ohio State fans, coaches, and players. It was a great season for both teams.

I like to design a pattern that is something for the fans to remember the winning team and their accomplishments. This trophy has three layers. The football is two layers with a backer board. The front football player, layer is attached about 1/2" in front of the football. This gives the project some visual depth and shadow.

YouTube video of an antique Scroll Saw:

I came across this video on YouTube and found it pretty well made. The host shows several up-close looks at the saw with well-lit views. It is a simple yet interesting saw. If you like vintage tools this may be worth your time.

This is an old rigid arm scroll saw. It is foot-powered. You will notice the springs on the top arm that returns the blade to the upper position after being driven down. This was one of the major drawbacks of this design. The springs did not keep constant tension on the blade. This design was pretty much gone after the early 70s and we started using constant tension saws. The performance was greatly improved with the new designs.

DEWALT Table Saw for Jobsite, Compact, 8-1/4-Inch (DWE7485)

For scroll saw projects we don't always need precision from a table saw. We just need to be able to cut down boards to a usable dimension. If you have limited room then a portable contractor saw may be all you need. The DeWalt gets very good reviews. It weighs just a little over 50 lbs so it can be put away after use to keep your space available. At $374 on Amazon, it won't break the bank like a full-sized saw.
