Snake Fight Scroll Saw Pattern

This plaque of two snakes fighting is 14" wide. If you have not cut patterns this large before here are a couple of options.

You can cut the project with a flat scroll saw blade and just deal with turning the large board.

You could also use a spiral blade to cut the interior cuts of the snakes. The switch to a flat blade to complete the oval frame sections. The interior cuts of the snakes are organic shapes. The inaccuracy of the spiral blade will not be too noticeable in those areas and you won't have to turn the board.

You need accuracy on the oval sections of the pattern so switch to a flat blade. Most scrollers find that they can follow a straight line and curve much easier with a flat blade.

I know that there are some of you who have excellent control of a spiral blade. If that works for you then it will make the pattern easier to cut since you don't have to rotate the large board.

Bear Woods has a nice special offer:

Hi guys. I wanted to pass along the current promotions at Bear Woods. They are offering gift cards with the purchase of several products. This includes the Pegas Scroll Saw and the Pegas Chuck Heads.

Buy the Pegas 21" Scroll Saw and receive a $100 gift card. Use the gift card to grab some supplies for the new saw. $100 will buy you a nice assortment of scroll saw blades. It would be a good time to grab a footswitch for the saw. Free money is always fun to spend. :)

The links on these photos are affiliate links. Because this is a promotion I probably won't get a commission for these orders but Bear Woods has done so much for me and the community that I am always happy to be there for them. I trust Bear Woods and you can too.

It is my understanding that current orders of the Pegas Scroll Saw will start shipping in April. All of the tool suppliers are dealing with disrupted shipping from overseas. When April rolls around they may be sold out and you will have to wait for the next shipment. You can reserve a saw by ordering now. Trust me that they will sell out.
