Utility Organizer Scroll Saw Pattern.

This is more a utilitarian organizer than something you would sit in your living room to hold remotes. Slot and tab construction gives that look.

One thing you can do to make the slot and tabs look more like a feature than a joint is to make the tabs longer so they stick out a little. The picture below shows a table leg and skirt with mortise and tenon joints. They have both been made to look like a decorative feature. Even the joints that are flush have a decorative spline that is functional and decorative. The same principle can be used on a box. I just call them slot and tab construction instead of mortise and tenon.

With enough careful sanding, you could also paint the organizer to give it a more finished look.

This pattern is all 1/4" thick wood so it is another project that is suited to those of you using a laser cutter.
