Flowers and Butterflies Scroll Saw Pattern.

I included a couple of example images above. The first example shows the pattern cut and applied to a green-painted backer board. The second example is the pattern cut without a backer board and painted black.

This is a relatively simple pattern to cut. Just be careful to plan the interior cuts. The project will be a bit fragile as you cut if you cut the large interiors first. Start with the small interiors first. Watch where you place your hands while you cut. Don't push the weak areas. You will have better luck with Baltic birch plywood or close-grained hard wood. If you use the backer board then the piece will have plenty of strength when finished. If you skip the backer board then the art will be more delicate.

Moving:(This will be boring to most of you so skip if you like. It has nothing to do with scroll saws.)

42 years ago my wife(girlfriend at the time) and I were living in southern Indiana. I was just finishing my Electronic Communication degree when Xerox hired me to be a field service engineer(fix-it guy). It was going to be exactly the kind of job I was looking for so I was excited to accept.

I went to my now, wife and told her I was taking the job. I also told her it was about 100 miles away.
I asked if she would like to get married and move with me. She said yes, with a request. She said she would like to move back to Indiana if things did not work out in Kentucky. I said that was fine.

As it turned out things did work out in Kentucky and we have stayed here for 42 years. We raised our daughter here and both Patty and I spent our entire careers with the same companies. I stayed with Xerox and Patty was a director at the local hospital. We are both retired now.

I have always known that Patty wanted to go back to Indiana and be closer to family. Recently my daughter and her husband decided they wanted a change and said they would move to Indiana and would we want to move also. It took my wife about 2 seconds to say yes.

My daughter has her house on the market and it looks like it will sell fast. They were looking for a new place in Indiana yesterday while the open house was going on here in Lexington. My guess is that they will be moving within the next month or two.

Patty and I pretty much bought the first house in Indiana we went and looked at. It is under construction with a possible completion date of August 20th. It is about a mile from my brother and just a few miles from most of Patty's family. I think this last year made us all appreciate how much we missed being closer to family.

This is the slowest time of year for my blog so I want to get this move complete before the Christmas season starts. Right now I can run the blog in four or five hours a day so I have extra time. During October through December 25, the workdays get closer to ten hours, seven days a week. It is an easy ten hours but still needs to get done.

Since I mentioned that we were thinking about moving a few weeks ago I have had several emails asking about the move. I appreciate all the well wishes and thought I would share my story with those who are interested. Both of you. :)
