I get pattern requests almost every day for patterns that I am not able to do. Copyrighted and trademarked logos and images are a big no-no. It takes about two weeks for the cease and desist letters to show up in my mailbox. I know this from experience. I learned my lesson many years ago.
There are times when you want to cut a pattern for personal use. You don't plan to sell the work or the pattern. You can't find a pattern because honest pattern designers don't want to get into trouble.
The video above will take one popular pattern request and easily turn it into a cuttable pattern. Trust me this is not difficult. It uses free software, Inkscape, and a free online converter, pngtosvg.com The converter on this web page does a better job than the Inkscape built-in converter most of the time. That is why I included it.
There is the possibility that YouTube will flag this video as a copyright violation. It is not but their algorithm does not always get it correct. If the video disappears you will know why.
Let me state one more time to be perfectly clear. Do not use this technique to violate the designer's rights to their art. Use this for personal use only. You can also use this technique with other non-copyrighted images.
