Judy Gale Roberts featured on Tennessee Crossroads Show:

Do not miss this video. Judy Gale Roberts is the featured guest on this edition of the Tennessee Crossroads show. If you do not know who Judy is then let me introduce you. Judy is the only woman inducted into the woodworker's hall of fame. She is widely considered the finest intarsia artist in the world.

She is also one of the nicest people I have met in our industry. I have featured Judy here on the blog before but this show gives you much more insight into the lady and her craft.

Please watch the video and leave a comment and thumbs up.

After you watch the video please visit Judy's web page. https://intarsia.com/

Take my patterns and make them better:

I received an email from Mike Moran yesterday. He wanted to share photos of one of the projects he made from a pattern I posted a few days ago. He made improvements to the design and also used beautiful hardwood to give the project a finished look. He did a wonderful job with the project and it made me want to share some thoughts.

I wanted to share the photos because I love it when you can use my pattern and improve it to make it your own and better. I design patterns almost every day. If I used high-quality hardwoods for every project I would go broke. I use a lot of plywood for making the samples. That is fine for many of the projects but for some, nice hardwood adds a lot to the finished piece.

Mike also added new knobs to the pattern. These gave it a more professional/commercial look.

When you see a pattern I post please take a minute to look at how it may look made from a nice hardwood. Consider changing the pattern to suit your needs.

Today's Angel Wings Cross is a good example. The photo above is just a simulation. I did not cut the project because I know the pattern is simple enough to not have flaws. I did not need to test cut the pattern. Obviously, the photo would be more appealing if I had photographed an actually finished cross made from beautiful hardwood.

We cut projects for many different reasons. If you are cutting a project for someone's 50th anniversary you may want to take it up a notch. If it is a gag gift for your best friend then a different material may be fine.

My point here is that my patterns are often just a starting point for your creativity.

Thanks, Mike for allowing me to share the photos of the project.
